At the end of April, Palm Beach County Commissioners and Governor DeSantis met to discus the reopening of Palm Beach County.  That day, April 29th, golf courses, marinas, boat ramps, community pools, tennis courts, parks and other recreational got permission to start opening with restrictions.  Beaches and beach parks still remain closed in Palm Beach County. 

The county and golf course professionals are taking steps to keep golfers safe on the golf course and to keep COVID-19 counts down in Palm Beach County. For golfers who have been itching to get back on the golf course, please note the restrictions set in place to keep everyone safe.

In a meeting held by Governor DeSantis yesterday, that he plans on opening up Florida to all professional sports teams that want to resume activity. 

DeSantis said” all professional sports are welcome here for practicing and for playing”. The conference was held yesterday afternoon in Tallahassee. DeSantis also mentioned that “if you have a team in a area that won’t let you practice, we’ll find a place for you here in Florida”. 

The news is coming a month after Florida Division of Emergency Management agreed that professional sports are considered an essential service and were allowed to resume play in Florida, provided they are closed to the general public.  The governor made a comment stating that while professional sports might not necessarily…

County Commissioners met last week to discuss reopening Martin County and the steps to take. The meeting was held Friday morning at The Blake Library in downtown Stuart.  

Starting today, Monday, May 4th, Martin County is reopening golf courses, boat ramps, parks and beaches, however Hobe Sound Beach will remain closed due to its close proximity to Palm Beach County where the beaches remain closed.  Bathtub Beach will also remain closed in Martin County. 

 In addition to all county parks, private and public golf courses and boat ramps opening racquet sports will be allowed at parks, pavilions will reopen but playgrounds will remain closed.  Boat ramps will be open for commercial or recreational use.

Governor DeSantis and Palm Beach County Commissioners and Mayor announced some positive news about the slow down of Covid-19 in South Florida and the start of reopening Florida. 

Palm Beach County is taking gradual steps to start to reopen the county in a safe way. On Monday afternoon, the county commissioners announced that starting yesterday Wednesday, April 29th marinas, public parks, boat ramps, community pools, golf courses, tennis courts and other recreational facilities will begin to open with restrictions and maintaining social distancing practices. The beaches will still remain closed until further notice.

For the past thirteen years, The Honda Classic Golf Tournament has been played at Palm Beach Garden’s PGA National Resort and Spa. Recently, the popular PGA Tournament has been named the “Most Fan Friendly Event” in 2019. The award was presented to The Honda Classic Golf Tournament at the PGA Tour’s Annual Meetings.

PGA National Resort and Spa has been the home to the golf tournament since 2007 and the tournament is back in Palm Beach County this February. PGA National consists of five golf courses with a total of 18 holes each. The courses include The Champion Course, The Palmer, The Estates, The Fazio, and The Squire. The Honda Classic is starting off the famous PGA Tour Golf Tournament this year with a Honda Classic Kick Off Party at the Gardens Mall.

The Kick Off Party is next Thursday, February 20th in the Center Court of the Palm Beach Gardens mall. Head to the mall for a night of fun and help kick off the week-long tournament starting Monday, February 24th with practice rounds and press conferences.

The Honda Class Golf Tournament will be back at PGA National Resort and Spa starting Thursday, February 27th through Sunday, March 1st.
