Just one year after turning pro, Jupiter Island resident Tiger Woods wins the 1997 Masters, shooting a then scoring record 18-under par for the week. The youngest person ever to claim the Green Jacket, Tiger won by a Masters record 12 shots, a record that still stands today.

Woods has since gone on to win the Masters 4 more times, with the latest being in 2019.

BallenIsles Charities Foundation, 100 BallenIsles Circle, Palm Beach Gardens will award grants totaling $800,000 to 46 local Palm Beach County organizations in March 2021. Since the beginning of the establishment of the BallenIsles Charities Foundation they have raised over $4.6 million.

When times looked gloomy and the pandemic raged on and people struggled, the BallenIsles community stepped up in a big way to extend a helping hand to communities nearby. In the 10 years of the BallenIsles Charities Foundation’s existence, not a year passed in which they did not host a live fundraising event, whether it be a dinner, a golf outing, or party.

The annual PGA Golf Tournament that is held at PGA National Resort and Spa is back in Palm Beach Gardens this week. Some of the world’s top golfers have joined the Player’s Field and will be playing for the playing for the next, Honda Classic winner.

The professional golf tournament held every year at Palm Beach Gardens, PGA National Resort and Spa is now selling tickets for their upcoming tournament in March. The tournament was moved to the end of March last year, in previous years the PGA Tournament was held in February. The tour rearranged its schedule, and The Honda Classic will now be held in Palm Beach County March 15th through March 21st.

Tickets are now on sale for the tournament. Due to the current circumstances, only a limited number of tickets will be sold prior to the event. In previous years, attendees could purchase tickets at the event, but this year, tickets are required to be purchased in advance. Tickets will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.

In early 2020, the Martin County Golf Course began renovations to the course and a name change. The new course is now called “Sailfish Sands” and the new course is going to be bolder, innovative, and more unique, nothing like any other course in Martin County.

Earlier this week, the Martin County Parks and Recreation Director announced that he went before the County Commission to update them on the progress of the massive project and to ask for additional funding. The director and course asked for $3 million dollars more which will bring the complete renovation cost to around $8 million dollars and the county approved the changes during the meeting. Since 2007 the legends of the game have made a stop in Boca Raton for the PGA TOUR Champions event at the Old Course at Broken Sound Golf Club. This year, the event will return to Broken Sound but not only take place in a month, it will also feature a brand new title sponsor. The TimberTech Championship will be played in front of a national TV audience the week of October 26 to November 1, 2020.

Since its inception, the newly named TimberTech Championship has raised over $2 million for local charities through the Boca Raton Champions Golf Charities (BRCGC), with the Boca Raton Regional Hospital serving as the primary charitable beneficiary.
