The 2019 Gardens Cup Golf Tournament is back again for another year. The city of Palm Beach Gardens and the SPIRIT Team invite everyone to join in on the fun on Saturday, June 1st.

The golf tournament is a fun fundraiser for all level golfers. The SPIRIT Team is a volunteer-based committee operated by the Palm Beach Gardens City employees. The team strides to increase employee engagement and boost morale through teamwork and involvement.

Everyone said he was done. Heck, even he said he was done. 

Sure, the scoreboard would show a T Woods every week. There would even be a guy out there wearing a red polo and black pants on Sunday. It wasn't Tiger Woods though. At least not the Tiger Woods that golf fans watched dominate the sport for over a decade from 1997 to 2008.

The "new" Tiger Woods was more of an elder statesman than a cutthroat competitor. The same guy who used to say that he would only tee it up if he thought he had a chance to win was now teeing it up in hopes of just getting four rounds in with his back staying in one piece. For the past twelve years, The Honda Classic Golf Tournament has been played at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens. The popular golf tournament was founded 47 years ago in 1972 and has been held in Palm Beach County since 2003. The prior location of the tournament before PGA National was Mirasol Country Club from 2003 until 2006.

The Honda Classic is just a few weeks away from being back in Palm Beach County and this year, attendees will get a better view of the action.

The tournament has added more than 20,000 square feet of expended hospitality spots and viewing venues. The 17th green is now closer to the water and the hole has been shortened to add more room the Bear Trap and Cobra Puma Village that surround the area. The Skysuites at the 17th have been expanded by 10,000 feet for more spectators. For the first time, the entire 17th hole will be enclosed by hospitality spots and seating.

For the past eight months, the North Palm Beach Country Club’s golf course has under gone renovations and recently reopened its municipal course to the public. The golf course is located within a couple miles of some of the world’s best.

Construction on the course began in May of 2018 and was a major part of a project conducted by the Village of North Palm Beach. In addition to a redesign of the golf course, the project also calls for a new clubhouse which is scheduled to open later this year.
