As one of South Florida’s most natural thrills, it is always amazing to most that some 3,000 enormous sea turtles still lumber onto South Florida’s beaches at night to lay their eggs.
Every summer, March through October, our pristine beaches are decorated with neon colored tape and signs to show where these ancient creatures have buried their nest.

Under the pale light the moon shines onto the beaches, turtle nesting season is such an awe-inspiring scene to watch. As the sea turtles wade their way up to the beach to dig holes in the sand and lay their eggs to then disappear back into the deep blue.
Up and down the beautiful Atlantic Coast, you can witness this amazing spectacle yourself as many environmental groups and parks organize the summer nighttime…

May is here and bringing in the heat along with warmer water temperatures!

Offshore- The big bite happening offshore this week in South Florida is definitely kingfish, averaging in at 30-50 pounds. In the range of 100-200 ft. of water, the best bait to use if you are trying to target these silver kings are live goggle eyes or sardines. However, if you prefer trolling the offshore waters, break out your downriggers and run a split tail mullet or artificial ribbonfish to attract the fish’s attention.
Dolphin and Wahoo are in a little deeper of 200-350 ft. of water and anglers may have to work a little harder to find these fish at these depths and some reports say dolphin are in much deeper as 800-1200 ft.  Mix up your bait spread a bit with natural and…

The Players Championship might not be a major, just don't tell that to anyone that plays on the PGA Tour.

Regularly called "The Unofficial Fifth Major", The Players Championship held at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL is the strongest full field PGA Tour event on the season. Like the European Tour's equivalence of the BMW PGA Championship, The Players Championship is the flagship event on the PGA Tour, held on the grounds of the PGA Tour's offices, and features the largest prize purse of any Tour event.

One of the other things the event does is give us some of the best pairings of the calendar year for Thursday and Friday and 2015 is no exception. In fact, Finchem and Co have given us some absolute monster pairings that will certainly wet the…

Fishing Outlook 4.17.15

OFFSHORE: The South Florida fishing action out deep has been a bit scattered far offshore. Closer in, is where you will find the best fishing action for the springtime. The sailfish bite seemed to slow down a bit due to the lack of current and greener waters. That could change any day as the current changes. The Cobia bite is really good in areas of the sand pile. Lots of fish around South Florida, especially near shallower wrecks in the 70’-90’ foot range. Live baits work outstanding such as crabs, pilchards, pinfish, mullet and shrimp.  On the deep side of the Juno Beach, Florida 180' ledge where is a mixed bag of fish and rudder fish and blue runners have tackled the area. Dolphin are caught and scattered among the frigate birds…

The calendar has turned to April, meaning that spring is officially here.

For us golf fans, that can only mean one thing, The Masters is upon us. The azaleas have begun the bloom, the pimento cheese sandwiches are being made, and come Thursday we will get a "hello friends" from Jim Nantz.

The first major of the year is upon us and it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. As always, the storylines heading into this week are plentiful. None are bigger though than two golfers that call our area home, heading down Magnolia Lane going in vastly different directions.

On one side, Jupiter Island resident Tiger Woods, who will be teeing it up in competition for the first time in two months and whose game is the biggest question of Masters week.…

Wildlife Officials say to Look out for shorebirds in South Florida

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are asking all beachgoers to keep a look out and do your best not to disturb the shorebirds on the Atlantic coast of Florida.

During spring and summer, shorebirds are beach nesting; they tend to build nests with layers of sand and sea shells found on the beautiful resourceful beaches of South Florida. Due to their camouflage, hatching chicks, as well as the nest and eggs, are challenging to see with possibilities of being trodden on such as birds like the black skimmer, snowy plover and American oystercatcher and more. These types of shorebirds are species that face great challenges and need people’s awareness in…
