The city of Palm Beach Gardens is suitably named, as it is comprised of 30 percent flourishing greenery. Located seven miles north of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens is known for its excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities at the Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens, and Legacy Place. Boating and fishing are plentiful, as are beautiful luxurious waterfront homes, some even sitting directly on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, if not the Intracoastal Waterway.

couch_copy_500Modern interior design trends for 2015 are a fascinating blend of traditional materials, shapes, prints and decorating ideas with new products and rich room colors.  This year allows classic, contemporary and period pieces to shine with fresh new decorating colors and design ideas.  Designs reflect the intention of creating memorable living spaces with personality.

Traditionally, blue has been a classic, soothing color.  Any blue stirs up images of the ocean and sky.  Rich, saturated hues of the deep sea are vivid and opulent.  Beverly Lionetti, Lead Designer www.interiorsbybeverly.com  suggests navy blue as a trending color for 2015.   “Navy Blue is a true classic color and can bring drama to any room.  Whether it is used as an accent color on walls or…

If this is your year, perhaps a visit to the ephemeral beauty of “The Garden of the Drops of Dew” and a Sake VIP Tasting experience is warranted.

Within the walls of the Morikami Museum are tranquil gardens.  Morikami gardens, Roji-en: Garden of the Drops of Dew, were designed to be a living exhibit complementing the museum.  Designer Hoichi Kurisu created a garden complex with historical and aesthetic elements. Its six distinct gardens are inspired by, but are not replicas…

turtle nesting light ordinance

Photo: 2014 Sea Turtle Nesting Count

Sea turtle nesting season has legitimately taken place on March 1st and along South Florida’s coastline, locals have already stumbled upon several sea turtles sightings on the naturally pure beaches. “In the dark and out of sight is where South Florida’s sea turtle population literally comes to life.” Seasonal lighting regulations have taken into effect which entails waterfront residents and nearby businesses that are close to the Atlantic Ocean to faint lights in order to help prevent female turtles from being scared off and aborting the natural nesting process.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach, has been working very hard to educate and rehabilitate sea creatures all while tracking, researching and…

Daniel Berger is no stranger to PGA National. The 21 year old PGA Tour rookie grew up in nearby Jupiter, played and worked out of the Dye Preserve, and went to high school at Dwyer.

At this point he has probably played there more than most of the pros that were in the field this week. But, when he made his run in the fourth round, erasing a nine shot deficit when the final round started Sunday, all everyone could do is just stop and watch.

Berger took on all the top guns ahead of him on the leaderboard and beat them. In fact, he beat everyone in the field except for one (champion Padraig Harrington), and he took Harrington to the second playoff hole before succumbing to a bad tee shot.

Berger shot a final round 64 over Sunday and Monday, the…

People travel great distances to get to a beautiful location like South Florida, but did you know some people drive 40 miles just to taste delicious confections?  Jupiter Donut Factory, 141 Center Street, Jupiter has been a local favorite for years and will be sone sharing the love of doughnuts by expanding to Royal Palm Beach.   These doughnuts are known as the “best handmade, fluffy donuts ever”.  The aroma of fresh baked doughnuts engrosses the restaurant and neighboring shops.

The family owned store makes anywhere from 200-300 doughnuts fresh each day.   Bakers come in at midnight to make the doughnuts and pastry decorators arrive at 3:00am to adorn them.  In addition to traditional fresh glazed…

Uber is now available in South Florida. The ride sharing company launched its app-based service in Miami last summer.  It has expanded its service and is available in the West Palm Beach and Jupiter areas.  Prices are averaging 25% less than taxi’s. After requesting a ride, a photo of the driver will flash up on your smartphone, letting you know who the driver is and the make of vehicle.

The service allows users to tap the app on their smart phone to call for a vehicle,…

For those who care about nutrition, taste and quality of their fruits, vegetables, meats and poultry, local farms are selling through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) memberships.  With a significant shift in nutrition awareness, genetically modified and processed foods have become less desirable.  There is a huge misconception that local organic fruits and vegetables are more expensive.  CSA memberships and community plots keep costs down.

CSA's generally focus on the production of high quality foods for a local community, often using organic or biodynamic farming methods, and a shared risk membership–marketing structure.  The essential design includes developing a consistent consumer group that is willing to fund a whole season’s budget in…
