Instead of the regular white lights, the Jupiter Lighthouse will be illuminated in blue spotlights this weekend.

The change to blue will be in honor of Lighthouse benefactor Joan Hudiburg. Hudiburg passed away on July 13. In addition to being a benefactor of the lighthouse, she was also the former Board Secretary for the Loxahatchee River Historical Society as well as a volunteer at the Jupiter Lighthouse.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is located just west of the Jupiter Inlet where the Intracoastal meets the Loxahatchee River. Built in 1860, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places list in 1973. Today it serves as a museum and offers daily tours.

West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio announced on Thursday that the West Palm Beach Golf Course will shut down its clubhouse by the end of the weekend.

The announcement came only a few days after residents and the city considered spending money to fix up the aging, existing clubhouse. The current building, which was built around 1947, leaks and has problems with lead, termite, and asbestos.

Golf operations will immediately be moved to a trailer and restrooms will be available in the golf cart garage. The Bradley’s Hole-in-One restaurant will close down, however Bradley’s will still be allowed to operate a snack cart.

No announcement has been made on when or if a new clubhouse will be built.
