Nearly 600 water skiers from 42 states will descend upon West Palm Beach starting Tuesday for the 71st GOODE Water Ski National Championships.

Sponsored by the nonprofit group USA Water Ski, the GOODE Water Ski National Championships is billed as the largest water ski tournament in the world and will have athletes competing for national titles in slalom, tricks, and jumping.

This year will mark the 13th time that Okeeheelee Park will host the event due in large part to its five lakes. It has also been held in Illinois, California, and Texas.

Taking place Tuesday through Saturday, the five day event is free and open to the public. For more information on the GOODE Water Ski National Championships, visit www.usawaterski.org.
