After conducting the 2012 event without a title sponsor, the World Challenge has finally found one. Northwestern Mutual has signed on as the title sponsor of the event that is run by the Tiger Woods Foundation. The limited field event will be held December 5-8 at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California.

Also announced Wednesday were the commitments from some of the top golfers in the world including Jupiter Island resident and tournament host Tiger Woods and Palm Beach Gardens resident Rory Mcllroy. They along with defending champion Graeme McDowell will make up part of the 18-man field.

"Northwestern Mutual has been an excellent partner over the years, and we are pleased they will be the title sponsor of the World Challenge," Woods announced on his website. "I'm really looking forward to competing this year."

Northwestern Mutual will now be the fourth title sponsor in the 14 year history of the event. Most recently Chevron sponsored the tournament from 2008-2011 but did not renew their sponsorship agreement. As a result, Woods reportedly funded the $4 million purse needed to run last year's event.

While it does not count as an official PGA Tour event, it has been added to the regular season schedule starting this year as a result of the PGA Tour's new wrap-around schedule.
