Within the city limits of northern Palm Beach County is a treasure known as Frenchman’s Forest Natural Area.  The natural area protects “slash pine flatwoods, live oak hammock, cypress swamp, hydric hammock and tidal swamp and mangrove habitat”. The natural preserve is located at 12201 Prosperity Farms Road, right off Prosperity Farms Road, not to far from the Garden’s Mall in Palm Beach Gardens.  Follow the winding drive to a small parking area and prepare to step backward in time to the old Florida of the first settlers in South Florida.

The Honda Classic is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour in south Florida. It was founded 47 years ago in 1972 as Jackie Gleason's Inverrary Classic, and is usually the first of the Florida events in late winter following the "West Coast Swing."

Onshore fishing is a fun activity that doesn’t involve all the work putting a boat in the water. Thankfully, there are many great onshore fishing spots in Palm Beach County. Here are a few of our favorites.

Carlin Park

This expansive beachside park includes Lazy Loggerhead Café, Seabreeze Amphitheatre, picnic areas, an exercise course, bocce courts, softball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Saltwater fishing is permitted at this beach, and most surf-fisherman use 12-15 foot rods paired with large saltwater spinning reels and 20-25 pound test line. Surf fishing can be great here for jacks, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and snook.

If you want to go boating in South Florida, there are some things you’re going to need. The first, of course, is a boating license. According to the FWC: In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the FWC.
