Waterway Park is a great place to explore Palm Beach County’s diverse marine life, the park includes over 30,000 cubic yards of waste material brought up during the course of an excavation or dredging. The Jupiter High School Environmental Academy, the Boy and Girl Scouts of America, and others have planted over 35,000 red mangrove seedlings.

In 2016 the park underwent a large reconstruction to remove Australian Pines and other invasive species. The total expenditures for the project exceed $500,000. Eagle Trail

Forming a loop around Gator Lake in Grassy Waters Preserve, the Eagle Trail tunnels through a tropical hammock to provide overlooks across the wet prairies of the Loxahatchee Slough and across the Lake. Manatee Lagoon hosts public and private kayaking and paddleboarding tours of the Lake Worth Lagoon Tuesdays through Fridays. If you are looking for a hands-on way to experience South Florida’s ecosystem, now is the perfect time because it’s always easier to find and see manatees when the weather is cooler as they often huddle together in well-known warmer waters.

All tours are led by “Manatee Masters” who will help guide you as well as narrate the local plants and wildlife.

Public Tours

Public tours are for groups of ten people or less and can be booked Tuesday through Saturday (no tours on Sundays) at 2 p.m.

The Palm Beach Roadrunners is hosting its first run of the year this Saturday starting in Carlin Park. This is a great event for experienced runners and new year’s resolutioner alike. If you’re experienced there is a 10K option or, for everyone else, there is a 5K option.
