The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse sits on top of a midden shell mound on the northern side of the Jupiter Inlet. The location in Jupiter was chosen in 1853 when Congress authorized the construction. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is located between the Cape Canaveral Lighthouse to the north and the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse to the south. 

The Jupiter Lighthouse project was assigned and designed to George Gordon Meade, a young Army Lieutenant. The Lighthouse was one of six Florida lighthouses assigned to Meade before being completed under the supervision of Lieutenant William Raynolds. Raynolds improved the final design by increasing the height of the lighthouse tower to 105 feet and doubled the masonry wall for protection.

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County is a non-profit organization whose mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of Palm Beach County. The Society maintains a large library on the history of Palm Beach County, Florida and the Caribbean.

Through the Society's archives, which include nearly two million photographic images, maps, newspapers, journals, periodicals, architectural drawings, and research files, they have maintained an active research facility and documents the people and events that have shaped Palm Beach County.

The Historical Society also has multiple educational programs and initiatives that contribute significantly to the interest of local students in the history of Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach Island’s iconic Flagler Museum hosts Afternoon Tea every day from November until the end of April. The Afternoon Tea is held in the museum’s Café des Beaux-Arts. 

The elegant tea party features an array of delicious delicacies and refreshments and of course all the tea imaginable.  Guests can enjoy gourmet tea sandwiches, macaroons, traditional scones, sweets, the Flagler’s very own Whitehall Special Blend all served on the elegant Whitehall Collection of China.

The DuBois Pioneer Home located in Dubois Park in Jupiter is one of the last remaining historic homesteads of its type in northern Palm Beach County. The historic Jupiter landmark closed in 2008 and underwent extensive renovations and is opened to the public for tours to learn about Jupiter’s history and the DuBois family. 

The home was built in 1898 by Harry DuBois, the son of Harry and Susan DuBois and Charlie Carlin, the oldest son of Captain Charles Carlin of the Jupiter Inlet Lifesaving Station. The home belonged to South Florida pioneers Harry and Susan DuBois and is a perfect example of the self-sufficient South Florida homestead with both archeological and historic value.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their popular Jupiter Climb and Paddle event this week.

The event starts with a climb to the top of Jupiter’s iconic red Lighthouse and get your chance to see the incredible views of Jupiter and the waterways. The Lighthouse tower is 105 steps to the top and those who attend the event must be able to climb the tower’s steps.

Following the tour of the Lighthouse, the friends at the Jupiter Outdoor Center will guide the guests on paddleboards or kayaks through the waters of the Jupiter Inlet and nearby waterways for a tour and history from the water. During past events, those who attend often have seen manatees, sea turtles, birds and other marinelife along the journey.
