The Flagler Museum, formally known as the Whitehall estate is one of the most famous homes and landmarks on the island of Palm Beach. The elegant 100,000 square foot estate was built in 1902 by Henry Flagler as a wedding gift to his wife Mary. Henry Flagler was an American Industrialist and founder of Standard Oil, who is known for developing Florida’s east coast and responsible for making Palm Beach, America’s first resort destination.

The grand estate features 75 rooms and was built and designed in the Gilded Age. Flagler commissioned John Carrere and Thomas Hastings to design and built the mansion for Flagler. The grounds of the museum will be resplendent with an array of automotive gems that come to Stuart from all over Florida. Featured marques this year are Volkswagen, Porsche and Audi, but classics of every make will be shown.

Other highlights of the day will include bidding on more than 50 exciting silent auction items, on-site food trucks offering a wide assortment of first-class fare, and wine and beer available for sale.

The Boca Raton Museum Of Art’s “Imagining Florida: History and Myth In The Sunshine State,” exhibit is three years in the making. It brings together over 200 paintings, photographs and kitschy artifacts that represent and illustrate the past 300 years of Florida’s colorful history.

From natural landscapes to frontier outposts to burgeoning towns, the scenes featured in Imagining Florida portray many different aspects of the state- its deep-rooted Seminole and Miccosukee heritage, its historic African American communities, and its identity as a tourist destination.

Whether you want to learn some local history, view some beautiful art, or both, you’re not going to want to miss this exhibit.

Begin 2019 is the year of the Boar, so start it off right this Saturday at the Norton Museum of Art.  

Norton is happy to host dragon and lion dances performed by the Lee Koon Hung Kung Fu Chinese Martial Arts Association. There will also be a fun variety of things to do at the museum for the whole family, all of them in celebration of Chinese culture. Other activities throughout the day include a lantern-making workshop, a calligraphy demonstration and workshop, Chinese art projects for all ages, and tours.

Tomorrow, Saturday Feburary 9th is the big day for the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. The museum opens its doors after eight years of construction and renovations. The museum has undergone a $100 million renovations that were done by the award-winning British Architectural Design and Engineering firm, Foster + Partners.

The museum had to start fundraising campaigns to raise $100 million dollars for the renovations and continued to raise money until the renovations were completed.

The streets of Mizner Park will once again be filled with a tremendous selection of art from across the country as the Boca Raton Museum of Art presents its 33rd Annual Museum Art Festival. One-of-a-kind art will be available for purchase including painting, sculptures, jewelry, fiber art, photography, ceramics, pottery, wood art, mixed media, graphic design, crafts, and art glass.  

All of the festivals proceeds help support the Museum’s educational programs for children and youth. Admission is complimentary and free parking is available in the garages at Mizner Park.
