The Annual Delray Half Marathon will take place on the morning of Monday December 31, the last day of 2018. What a great way to end the year! There will be  cool T-Shirts, Custom Medals, Fantastic Raffles and Maintains the Double Mat Chip Timing

Palm Beach Roadrunners presents the Classics by the Sea 5K / 10K on Saturday, December 8, 2018. The 10K will begin at 7;30 A.M. The 5K will begin at 7:40 A.M. The event will take place at Carlin Park in Jupiter, Florida.

Carlin Park is a beautiful beach-park in Jupiter that makes for a great place to run. If you live in Palm Beach County, you’re not going to want to miss this race, it’s for a good cause and it’s short enough for even casual runners to participate.

- 5k begins at 7:40 am

- 10k begins at 7:30 am

- Kid’s 1 miler begins at 7:10 am

You are encouraged to bring an unused and unwrapped toy to support the annual Marines Toys For Tots drive. Toys will be collected at packet pickup and on race morning.

It’s back, and it’s better than ever! Runners entering the FITTEAM Palm Beaches Marathon will experience a brand-new route this year, racing down Flager Drive and along gorgeous waterside views. This premier winter weekend event begins with the Bill Bone 5K race on the night of Nov. 30. Running beneath the glow of holiday lights, racers start and finish under the watchful eye of the world-famous Sandi holiday tree. Enjoy a pre-race dinner at 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. Then sleep well, and return to catch the sunrise while participating in the marathon, half-marathon, 10K or relay race, all taking place on Dec. 2. Afterward, tuck into the “World’s Biggest Brunch,” with complimentary mimosas. The party runs all weekend long, with live music and brilliant fireworks…

If you live in Delray Beach, check out Sunset Beach Yoga. The practice is guided (but also open to self-practice) and is approx. 80 minutes. This class is open to all levels, Hatha/Vinyasa/yin asana and pranayama practice which finishes in a lay-down meditation. Start time varies depending on season and sunset time.

 The FITTEAM Palm Beaches Marathon presented by Jupiter Medical Center is this weekend, November 30 - December 2. The weekend-long event consisting of a Marathon, Half marathon, and 5k road race. Run on a course that winds along the picturesque Intracoastal Waterway next to Lake Worth in West Palm Beach, the Palm Beaches Marathon & Run Fest offers no shortage of beautiful vistas for runners in the full and half marathon events, as well as its relay and 5K races.

Fast, mostly flat and run along paved surfaces, both courses start in downtown West Palm Beach and take runners on a tour of nearby cities and neighborhoods, including historic El Cid neighborhood and the historic Old Northwood community, as well as of the yachts and mansion homes of nearby…

If you’re looking to get fit while having fun check out a Zumba class at Pine Gardens South/ Bruce St. Laurent Park (behind the Jupiter Library) every Thursday (except this one, because of Thanksgiving) from 6 pm to 7 pm.

Zumba is a dance form with aerobics fitness program created by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez during the 1990s.

We have a little cold front coming through South Florida. Some may think that's a good excuse for skipping the gym. But working out in the cold, jogging and (if you can bear it) swimming, is actually very good for you and studies have shown that being outside in cold weather can transform white fat, specifically belly and thigh fat, into calorie-burning beige or brown fat. Brown fat's purpose is to burn calories to generate heat. Brown fat is often referred to as the "good" fat because it helps to burn rather than store calories.

So, if you live in South Florida, don’t hibernate in the cold, get outside and exercise!

 South Florida’s Palm Beach County is a slice of heaven where you can exercise outside, essentially, any time of year.  However, this time of year is almost too good to be true not to escape the gym and get outside. Nature is a perfect playground.

According to a study in the journal “Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise”, people are as much as 40 percent more likely to exercise regularly in the summer than in the winter.  Most of the heart benefiting effort comes from leg muscles and glutes.  Imagine the challenge of running beach sand.  Sounds a bit tougher than the treadmill at the gym.

In honor of breast cancer awareness month, District Fit WPB is hosting “Z For A C” at CityPlace for a $10 donation.

100% of proceeds will go to a family fighting against breast cancer, and Hilton WPB & CityPlace will be matching total ticket sales.

Zumba instructors Janice and Alexsa will lead participants in a high-energy aerobic fitness class featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance. After the up-beat dance, cancer exercise specialist Shannon Burrows will lead a stretch and information session as she shares her learnings as a breast cancer survivor and fitness instructor.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 20th at 9 am, and will last about 1 hour. Sign Up Online.
