The city of Palm Beach Gardens is suitably named, as it is comprised of 30 percent flourishing greenery. Located seven miles north of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens is known for its excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities at the Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens, and Legacy Place. Boating and fishing are plentiful, as are beautiful luxurious waterfront homes, some even sitting directly on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, if not the Intracoastal Waterway.

This past weekend, Bluewater Babes Fish for A Cure celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a bang- literally! The usual festivities at Sailfish Marina were not only over the top, but the series of events culminated with a grand fireworks show over Peanut Island.   When it comes to fishing, SPICED RUM's Sherry Beswick took first place Kingfish with 42.7 lbs, Stacy Maderal of LUNATICO took second with 20.5 lbs, and Gwen Belcher of PRETTY WORK won third with 19.3 lbs. Snook and jacks are being caught in the early mornings or low-lit times of the day at the Juno Pier, Jupiter South Jetty, and inshore. Live mullet can be found during low light periods of the day away from boat traffic, and is usually the best bait for snook, as well as top water plugs.

Bottom fishing boats have been catching kingfish and mutton snapper near 120 – 200’ with sardines, and dolphin has been pretty consistent offshore, as well as blackfin tuna in 200-300’ with small-skirted bonita strips.

This weekend, the 10th Annual Bluewater Babes Fish For a Cure Tournament will be going in full force, so don’t be alarmed if you see boats decked out in pink decorations and festive bikini-clad anglers. These…

Grouper caught on a dead sardine bottom fishing for snapper, Photo Courtesy of Reel Intense Fishing

With the mullet run being the highlight of the past couple of weeks, most fishing has been geared toward snook, large tarpon, and amberjack chasing schools through inlets, inshore, on the beach, and at the Juno Pier. Your trustiest bait is live mullet itself, which can be found during low light periods of the day away from boat traffic. If you’re looking for a little more fun in exchange for less reliability, using top water plugs creates some exciting action as snook will strike these much harder, sometimes becoming airborne exploding on the surface.

Reef anglers should be catching some kingfish and snapper this time of year, but this week has…

The iconic PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, home to the famous Honda Classic and a choice tourism spot, is under contract with the Canadian company Brookfield Asset Management. The resort was last sold to Walton Street Capital for $170 million in 2006 and went up for sale again this June.

PGA features 339 hotel rooms, five 18-hole gold courses, and a 40,000-square-foot spa. Brookfield is purchasing the resort for $255 million, which works out to $752,212 per hotel room. If the contract goes through, PGA can expect some nice upgrades, as Brookfield makes investments in properties they plan to improve, keeping them for the long-term, unlike Walton Street.

The low-key Brookfield has many well-known assets including New York’s…

The outdoor patio is getting all new furniture and awnings. They're adding a quartz-topped 16-seater bar covered in navy tiles in the shape of fish scales. A fire pit with…
