The city of Palm Beach Gardens is suitably named, as it is comprised of 30 percent flourishing greenery. Located seven miles north of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens is known for its excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities at the Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens, and Legacy Place. Boating and fishing are plentiful, as are beautiful luxurious waterfront homes, some even sitting directly on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, if not the Intracoastal Waterway.

In the United States, heart disease is the #1 cause of death, while stroke is the #4 cause. This includes both men and women, young and old, no matter your ethnicity. These are scary numbers, but I have great news! Not only is death from heart disease 80% preventable, but there’s a big way you can help encourage others in Palm Beach County to live a healthier life and support medical research and education at the same time- join the Heart Walk!

On November 17th, 2018, The American Heart Association Heart Walk will take place at Meyer Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, and your friends at Waterfront Properties & Club Communities would like to invite you to join in on the fun for a cause!

Leading up to the Palm Beach County Heart Walk, participate in…

Halloween in Hobe Sound will require you running for your life (slightly exaggerated). Zombies have been spotted! Are you up to this years annual Halloween “You Can Run but Not Hide” Race at the Pine School’s campus?  This a great family friendly event, so bring the young and the young at heart.

Beware on October 19th, 2018, as the zombies will be running amongst us.  A zombie is a corpse that has been turned into a creature having a crusade but not a rational thought and very hungry. It's best to come out dressed in a Halloween costume or zombie outfit. To endure the race, you must traverse a 5K course with off-road and street terrain. The run is easy. It's avoiding the zombies that can get a bit thorny, specifically they're after your flags.

Later to become known as the Florida East Coast Railway, Henry Flagler's railroad is one of the most well-known aspects of South Florida history. Population growth eventually led to an FEC railroad depot built in 1984 on the south shore of Jupiter's Loxahatchee River. In 1915 a new FEC passenger and freight depot was opened in Jupiter where Johnston Park is today.  Passengers weren’t the only riders. Fruits and plants were shipped on the trains, as was the daily mail. Live animals were shipped to northern zoos by Trapper Nelson, who set up a homestead-turned-zoo on the shore of the Loxahatchee River in the 1940s.

A train depot is a small railway station between the principal stations or a station where the train stops.  The older depot was moved a…

During the mid 17th century, legend has it that pirates found refuge 450 miles off the port of Palm Beach on the Bahamian island of Mayaguana. After long ocean voyages, they dug a well in the middle of the island in search of drinkable water, and would fill their casks before setting sail once again.

Fast forward to present day, and Pirate’s Well in Lake Park toasts to this sentiment as a friendly refuge for Northern Palm Beach locals to quench their thirst after leisurely days on the water with family and friends. Since 2010, owner Larry Marble has welcomed locals and treated them like family.

The culture of this beloved local watering hole was threatened earlier this year when the Lake Park location had to close due to an accidental…

Offshore, football-sized blackfin tuna have been pretty easy to get ahold of in about 200-400’ of water. You can use small daisy chains or troll with feathers, but quite a few have been caught trolling with small-skirted bonita strips as well. We had a lot of success with neon green and white skirts this week, but colors are a game that changes by the minute, so try a few different ones and switch the rest out as you go if your target fish is tending to a particular color. Dolphin have been in the same areas as blackfin, and wahoo have been non-existent. On the first cold front that rolls through, we’ll have our local favorite Junkanoo Lures ready. Regardless of our lack of cold…
