Tomorrow, May 23rd the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is releasing Teddy the sea turtle back into the ocean. Tomorrow just also happens to be World Turtle Day.

The sea turtle is an sub-adult loggerhead turtle that was found injured in January near Hutchinson Island. Staffers from the Inwater Research Group found the turtle floating in the St. Lucie power plant canal and contacted the Marinelife Center. Teddy weighed 113 pounds, which is underweight for sub-adult turtles, when the center took the turtle in.

The hospital staff at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center administered antibiotics, vitamins, iron, and fluids after the turtle’s blood work showed poor health due to starvation and anemia. Today, Teddy now weighs 125 pounds and is healthy…

The Friends of Jupiter Beach is hosting their 9th annual Food and Wine Festival this Saturday, May 19th at The Riverwalk Plaza in Jupiter.

The festival this year will feature more than 45 restaurants and vendors serving signature dishes, wine and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Many restaurants and vendors have signed up again this year in addition to new ones for this family friendly event. There will also be a live performance by the Samantha Russell Band. The Food and Wine Festival will go on as scheduled rain or shine from 2 pm to 5 pm under the Indiantown Bridge.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their popular Hike Through History this Saturday May 5th.

The hike includes a 2-mile journey through the 120-acre Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Natural Conservation Area to discover the history and nature of the historic Jupiter site. The site is just one of three natural sites in the United States that is protected by the Bureau of Land Management’s National Conservation Lands Programs. The Town of Jupiter and the Jupiter Police Department are hosting their annual Coastal Fest on the Riverwalk at Harbourside Place this upcoming weekend. The family friendly coastal themed event is taking place Saturday, April 28th from noon to 5 pm in Jupiter.

The event is free to the public and will feature a kid’s carnival area and activities, bounce houses, face painting, local artisan vendors, a tiki bar featuring beer and wine, touch tank, and local food trucks and vendors. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is a non-profit sea turtle hospital, rehabilitation and research center. The center’s mission is aimed to protect and promote the oceans ecosystems and to be one of the leading destinations to provide for injured and endangered sea turtles before being released back into the ocean.
