This week the PGA Tour returns to the Big Apple for the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. For the first time since 2009, the post season for the PGA Tour kicks off at Liberty National Golf Club, just across the river from New York City and the famed Manhattan skyline.

While the course has gone under a major renovation since 2009, one thing remains the same as the top golfers on tour return, and that’s the points leader. Just like in 2009, world number one Tiger Woods enters with the top spot in the FedEx Cup rankings.

The Jupiter Island resident comes into the playoffs with a 786 point lead over Matt Kuchar and will look to strengthen that lead even more with a strong…

Good news, and obvious to see with cranes in the air, that areas in Palm Beach County are starting to recover from a bit of a growth lull.  A population projection for Palm Beach County, which has 1.3 million residents, predicts a rise of nearly 10 percent by the end of the decade.

These population projections are a planning tool for local public agencies and not necessarily a forecast of future economic conditions.  It does indicate that based on the current zoning and land use allowances, the counties seven largest cities are projected to remain steady until 2035 as indicated by the University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research.

Census figures show a steady increase in the number of people moving into Palm Beach County.  In particular,…

If you are looking for a great way to indulge on all the ice cream you can eat, The Ultimate Gourmet Ice Cream Social is for you! The big tasting takes place at PGA National Resort & Spa, 400 Avenue of the Champions, in Palm Beach Gardens on August 17, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Food historians tell us the history of ice cream began with ancient flavored ices.  The Chinese are credited with creating the first ice creams as early as 3000 BC.   Marco Polo brought the tasty delicacy to Italy and often cited for introducing us to the first “iced creams”.  The ice creams we love today were concocted in Italy in the 17th century.

Many years ago, during the warm summer month’s people would put sweet cream, or freshly made warm custard in ice to cool. The…

Brooks Koepka was seven when Tiger Woods won his first career major at the 1997 Masters. This week, the Wellington native and now Palm Beach Gardens resident got to compete in the first major of his career and had a final round that he will never forget.

Thanks to a third round 73 by Tiger, Koepka got to do more than just meet his childhood idol on Sunday, he got to play a round with him too. Koepka and Woods met for the first time on the putting green before their round started, talking about Woods’ membership at Medalist among other things (Koepka is currently playing out of Bear Lakes but is looking for a new club).

Woods got the better of Koepka on the day with the Jupiter Island resident shooting an even round 70 to…

Stacy Lewis won her first major as a professional in 2011 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship. It was the last time a female American golfer won a major on the LPGA tour. That was until Sunday, when Lewis won again, this time at the Women's British Open.

Having to play 36-holes on Sunday due to the third round being postponed Saturday because of high winds, the Palm Beach Gardens resident and Medalist member finished birdie-birdie on the final two holes at St. Andrews to record a final round 72 and a two shot victory.

Lewis has proven over her career that she is very comfortable at the Old Course. When she last played there in 2008, she went 5-0 for the American team at the Curtis Cup (the women's equivalence of the…

This weekend, Tiger Woods finally got win number 18. It wasn’t majors though (he is still stuck on 14), but rather World Golf Championship titles. Woods shot an even round 70 on Sunday at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational to win his fifth tournament of the year.

The win was Woods’ eighth career victory at Firestone Country Club, matching the record set by Sam Snead at the Greensboro Open and Tiger himself at Bay Hill, and was done in dominating fashion.

Woods started the week off with a first round 66 on Thursday, finishing the round two shots off the lead. That would be the last time he would trail. The Jupiter Island resident lapped the field with a 9-under 61 on Friday and flirted with a 59 for most of the afternoon.…
