October is also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer awareness month.  It is an annual international campaign health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October worldwide to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

Waterfront Properties and Club Communities is making a difference in our community against cancer.  One step at a time, with a opening donation of $10,000 to Susan G. Komen, South Florida Waterfront hopes to help heighten awareness about early detection and screening, improve treatment methods or help local people have a greater chance of survival.  All of the Waterfront Properties associates and employees will be in their “pink…

Brian Peaper, Lost Tree Club's Director of Golf, has been named the 2013 South Florida PGA Golf Professional of the Year.

Peaper, whi played college golf at Ball State University and the University of Indiana, has been the Director of Golf at the North Palm Beach Club since 1996. While he competes in South Florida PGA senior events from time to time, Peaper has found more success off the links then on it.

“I went into the business side of golf out of college,” Peaper said, “but it was different then. There are weather issues in Indiana that don’t exist here, and youth sports meant the occasional YMCA team then. Travel teams didn’t exist.”

His duties at Lost Tree include managing, teaching, facilitating,…

Living in this Jupiter/Tequesta paradise, one must trade splendor of the fall foliage for the beauty of the tropics.

Seasonal decorating is one way to embrace autumn.

Potted plants of yellow or orange mums on the front/ back porches and pool areas will add to the seasonal flavor.

Aromatherapy is another method that influences your senses.  Purchase candles or warming oils in comforting scents like pumpkin or apple spice to fill the…

Only 80 days until the Palm Beach Food and Wine Fest 2013. Local “foodies” are preparing their taste buds for the culinary delights.  If you happen to be a beer geek here is some “hoppy” news for you – Tequesta Brewing Co. (TBC) 287 U.S. Highway One, Tequesta, FL (561)745-5000, is celebrating Hop Week starting today! Once a year hops are harvested in the North West and sold throughout the year for beer manufacturing.

This means a week’s worth of freshly infused hops in TBC beer.  The difference is that these featured brews are not made with the usual processed hops, but with freshly harvested hops. When the hops are not dried, they maintain the volatile, perfumy and grassy aromas not found after they have been processed.  The brewery ordered more than 100…

Hugo Leon might have missed the cut at the PGA Tour Canada’s final event of the season but it proved not to matter when it came to achieving his ultimate goal.

That’s because, despite being sent home early from the TOUR Championship of Canada, the Tequesta resident finished the season fourth on the money list and will receive his Web.com Tour card for the 2014 season. The top five on the money list at the end of the Canadian season all earn Web.com Tour cards for next year.

Leon won The Great Waterway Classic earlier in the season and had three more top-15 finished during the year to earn his card for next year. His top five finish on the money list completes the comeback that he has made since he suffered a season ending…
