Living in Southeast Florida is a dream come true. A seemingly endless summer.  Live life like it’s one long weekend. Perhaps its to early to quit your job and run away from all responsibilities but you can get as close as it gets to the island life vibe here in the Palm Beaches.

We all have thought about it occasionally while sitting in a horrendous traffic jam, a boring meeting, or even as you’re shoveling snow out of the driveway, your thoughts turn to paradise. Walking along the beach, drinking frozen umbrella drinks from coconut shells, and never having cold feet again that a pair of socks and flips flops can’t warm up.  Oh, the smile on your face as drive to work along a beach road or winding intracoastal drive.

The fact of it is while some…

Did you know that manatees are Florida’s marine mammal, and we proudly go to great lengths to protect them? Manatees are large, marine herbivoros known as sea cows.

The preservation of this endangered marine mammal is crucial, and it starts with community awareness. Throughout the colder months, manatees are drawn to warm-water outflows. They can’t survive in water that is less than 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Here in Palm Beach County, visit the Manatee Lagoon facility located at Florida Power and Light, 6000 North Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach. This is an ecological-discovery center offering a live webcam and it’s one of the top places to watch manatees.

The manatee is described as a very slow-moving mammal. They swim a typical speed of about…

Stuart was dubbed the "Sailfish Capital of the World" in 1938 by Miami Herald columnist, Enrnie Lyons, who visited the city and saw its vicinity to world-class sport fishing. Lyons was on a charter fleet offshore of the St. Lucie Inlet, where that week approximately 1,000 sailfish were caught and released by skilled anglers. Lyons returned to Miami to tell the world about the exceptional game fishing Stuart has to offer.

Since then, the sailfish has become part of the history of Stuart, as you can see from statues, fountains (pictured above) and business names in the area. Sailfish are still always a big catch just a few miles offshore in 80-160 feet of water and are caught with trolled dead baits.

What's lesser known about this area of the…
