In the spirit of Halloween, here's a Jupiter ghost story on the Loxahatchee River. The tale of the haunted spirit of Trapper Nelson reportedly haunts the tranquil inland waterways of the Loxahatchee River running through Jupiter and Tequesta.  Years ago, in the early 1930’s until the late 1960’s, a strapping "casanova" known as Trapper Nelson made quite an impact on the area and the local area socialites!  He was nicknamed the “Wildman of Loxahatchee”. The ghost is said to roam Jonathan Dickinson State Park to this day.

Trapper Nelson lived deep in the wild, uninhabited land on the Loxahatchee River (which is now Jonathon Dickinson State Park).  He was born in New Jersey and his given name was Vincent Nostokovich. This man was the modern day “Croc…

Not only is this Saturday Halloween, but a rare Blue Moon will light up the night’s sky. A blue moon does not always appear to be blue in the sky, but rather when it occurs.

As many know, a full moon usually occurs once a month and when 13 full moons occur in one year instead of the normal 12, that is considered to be a blue moon. There are two types of blue moons, a full moon can be considered blue when it is the second of two full moons in a month, or when it is the third of four full moons in a single season.

This October’s blue moon will not necessarily appear blue in the night sky to us, but it does not mean that it is not possible. According to research, a moon can appear blue in shade if the atmosphere is filled with smoke particles or dust…

This means sunrise and sunset times will be one hour earlier starting Sunday morning. This also means that there will be an extra hour of sleep starting this Sunday. Most of America expect those in Hawaii, most of Arizona, and the US Territories follow Daylight Savings Time.

Many believe that Benjamin Franklin was the inventor of Daylight Savings time, though he only suggested it and noted that the people wake up an hour earlier to enjoy more daylight and conserve candle wax. But the idea did not catch on until World War I when Germany…
