The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is preparing for a Double Sea Turtle Release this week. On Thursday, March 12th, the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center is planning on releasing two healthy sea turtle back into the ocean.

The sea turtles planning on being released are Turbo and Herme. Herme is a subadult loggerhead sea turtle that was found at the FPL St. Lucie site in November 2019. Herme was underweight and in poor health when found and after being transmitted to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center for fluids and antibiotics, Herme is ready to be released back into the ocean this week. The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their second annual Lighthouse Luminary Luncheon this March.

The luncheon is hosted by the Lighthouse Luminaries, who are ambassadors for the Jupiter inlet Lighthouse and Museum. The Lighthouse Luminaries meet socially to promote and fundraise for the preservation of the iconic Lighthouse and other buildings onsite. Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the Jupiter Lighthouse.

Every Thursday morning at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center hosts their ArtSEA Kid’s Painting Class until the end of April.

The weekly art class begins at 10:30 am on Thursday mornings. The class is designed to help introduce basic sea turtle conservation and biology in young children. The art class is geared toward children ages 3 to 5 years old.

The class begins with a brief introduction and ocean-themed story that includes a hands-on activity after the painting class. Those who attend will have the opportunity to take home their painted sea turtles to remember to class by.

Head to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum this weekend for their popular Hike Through History event.

Hike Through History includes a 2- mile journey through the 120 acres of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. Along the hiking journey, guests will have a chance to learn about the history and the grounds that was shaped by nature.

The hike is open to all and children must be 5 years old or older and accompanied by an adult to attend. Hiking gear such as active wear clothing, proper hiking footwear, a hat, sunscreen and a full bottle or canteen of water are suggested for the hike.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their popular reoccurring Ocean Explorers After Dark event for children.

Come and experience the sea turtle rehabilitation and research center after hours for an extended hour event and the opportunity for a hands-on experience for children to explore the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. The program is aimed for children ages 6 to 10 years old and each month the program features a different unique theme.

The night will include a tour of the Outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital, a chance to participate and engage in interactive activities and lessons and of course pizza. The program is a drop off only program and the drop off time is from 5:30 pm to 6 pm and the pickup time is from 9 pm to 9:30 pm.

It’s a wreck out there – a shipwreck!  A couple hundred feet off the Delray Beach Municipal Beach lies the “S.S. Inchulva”.  The ship went down in the historical hurricane of 1903. This sunken steel-hulled freighter has become a very popular diving location in South Florida, and it is excellent for the beginner diver. The nearly 400-foot freighter rests in only 25 feet of water and is a great dive or snorkeling spot.

 The "S.S. Inchulva" set sail from England in July 1903, bound for Galveston to receive a shipment of agricultural products. In what became its final voyage, the ship left Galveston Sept. 6 with a cargo of wheat, lumber and cotton. Its destination was Newport News, Virginia.  It is not known if the ship was aware of a hurricane…

Every Monday evening, The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum hosts their popular Twilight at the Light yoga event. The event takes place at sunset at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum’s grounds.

All are welcomed to come and join in on the serenity of the yoga class taught by Mary Veal of Breathe Salt Yoga in Jupiter. The class is taught on the Lighthouse Deck at begins at sunset approximately at 6 pm.

If you plan on attending, please bring your own yoga mat, water bottle and a flashlight to the class. The outdoor yoga class is weather dependent, check their website for updates if weather is bad. Due to the popularity to the event, you are asked to arrive early and meet 10 minutes prior to the classes start time at the Museum’s Flagpole.
