The Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta are nestled between Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. Both areas cater to the outdoor style, as they wrap around the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway, which provide incomparable views to residents. For this reason, water sports and boating are abundant. Jupiter and Tequesta also offer their share of championship golf courses and pristine beaches frequented often under consistently sunny skies.

Here in South Florida sun exposure is a way of life.  The Jupiter beaches are amazingly beautiful with powder white sand and sparkly blue waters.  The Loxahatchee River is a wide waterway of scenic beauty leading to a wildlife preserve and nature sanctuary. Being outdoors and on or near the water is a way of life.  Awareness about sun safety and information on tanning beds is essential. Skin cancer awareness is a Floridian way of life. For the first time since 1981, the U.S. Open returns this week to the famed East Course at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. This U.S. Open will mark the 18th time that Merion has hosted a USGA Championship, more than any other venue. While it has hosted several USGA events since its last Open, U.S. Amateur Championship in 2005 and the Walker Cup in 2009, it has been overlooked in recent years due to its length.

Playing at only 6,996 yards this week, Merion will be the first venue since Shinnecock Hills in 2004 to measure less than 7,000 yards. The short distance, coupled with the advancements in ball and club technology could prove to be no match for today’s current pros. Several inches of rain have drenched the…

Fullerton Island is getting a makeover. Workers will start removing nonnative vegetation on the town-owned island in Jupiter this month in preparation for the new nature preserve for small boats and kayaks.

The county plans to not only remove vegetation such as Australian pines and Brazilian pepper, but they will also grade the island to a level for wetland preservation. This will promote growth for native plants and increase water flow. About 3,000 knee-high mangrove seedlings will be planted on the 12-acre island just west of Burt Reynolds Park.

jupiter_high_106b_2322“We’re restoring a vital natural area with mangroves and other native plants that will draw birds and be a nursery for sea life,” said Julie Bishop, an environmental program supervisor with Palm Beach County…

Here are some helpful tips to speed up your round next time you are on the course and have more fun.

Move promptly- Proceed quickly to your ball after you hit your shot and be ready when it’s your turn to hit. One of the best ways to ensure that you get to your ball quickly is to take note of the area your ball landed in, especially off the tee and identify physical features that are near the ball’s landing site.
