For the past  7 years, the West Palm Beach SantaCon has drawn hundreds of Santa’s to visit downtown Clematis Street for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Each year, men and women dress up as Santa Claus and explore the streets downtown as a fundraiser for the JDRF, the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes research.

Santa’s pay $10 to participate in a bar crawl and get a wristband for drink discounts. Bar hop at the chosen bars to have your money go to the organization. The JDRF event is set up by volunteers, so all the night’s proceeds go to the organization.

Last year, Clematis Street was covered in 500 Santa’s. Come have a great time with family and friends at this one-of-a-kind social event.

The bar crawl is…

Need another reason to sell your home? Home sales gains are the highest in a decade, according to the National Association of Realtors.

For the third month in a row, home sales are on the rise in all major regional areas on the east coast of the country, like Palm Beach County.

Home sales increased 5.6% last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.81 million. Sales now are 3.8% higher than a year ago and in the strongest place since December 2006.

Lawrence Yun, a chief economist at the NAR, says “Faster economic growth in recent quarters, the booming stock market, and continuous job gains are fueling substantial demand for buying a home as the 2017 comes to an end.” He also says the odds of closing on a home are much better at the…

The popular French baker, Loic Autret, and his wife Pauline, just opened “Loic” in downtown West Palm Beach.

The bakery/bar/café is super stylish with 22-foot ceilings, smoked mirrors, floor-ceiling windows, and marble-topped high tops. Their whole menu- sandwiches, salads, artisanal breads, cheese platters, croissants, and tarts- is homemade from scratch.

Loic is a chef known for his pastries and his story. After serving in the French military as a paratrooper and minesweeping in Iraq and Cambodia, he decided to take up baking after getting injured. He learned the trade from working at different high-end restaurants around Palm Beach and Miami. He is now very popular around town, selling his confections at the West Palm Greenmarket.

At his…

The locally-founded favorite, Park Avenue Grille, has opened a new location at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens.

The restaurant has their fresh, never-frozen meat delivered right to them from Premium Standard Farms, known for their finest pork. PA is famous for their baby-back ribs, smoked with hickory in custom smokers and slow-cooked for hours. Patrons also love their hand-carved BBQ beef brisket sandwich and pulled pork platter.

Certain styles can make your home look older even if it's a new house. Some quick and easy updating before putting you home on the market will make a big difference to buyers. Here are the styles that make your listing look dated according to the National Association of Realtors:

1. Bright and bold paint colors on walls. Turquoise might have seemed like a good idea at the time, but if you want to add color to the home it's better to do with pieces like pillows and vases. Neutral and warm colors are safe and always in style.

2. Animal prints. At some time, someone somewhere came up with the idea that leopard and tiger prints on chairs and couches made them look more expensive. It's actually a big turn-off to home buyers if you're selling…

Every once in a while, locals are lucky enough to see a spectacular sight; Humpback whales breaching the waters of the Atlantic. The mammals, which can grow to be 50 feet long and weigh 40 tons, migrate yearly, traveling from northern Canada and Greenland down to the south Atlantic around the Caribbean for the winter months. That makes now a great time to spot the whales off the coast.

Since they're such large creatures, you'll have a better chance seeing one if you head to deep water. Earlier this week, passengers aboard the Mattanza Charters, based in Pirates Cove Resort and Marina in Port Salerno, went out to the 8-mile reef off Stuart and saw a Humpback having fun in the open ocean. See the video for yourself here.
