Divers and Snorkelers will now have a new artificial reef to explore in Palm Beach County off the shores of Boca Raton. The county dropped Boca’s third artificial reef last week made of 530 tons of limestone just near the Boca Raton Inlet.

The reef was funded by the Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission grant. The structure sits at about 35 feet deep and is manmade. The reef is meant to create a new habitat for Marinelife coming from the intracoastal waterways to the shores of Boca Raton. The reefs are meant to enhance the habitat for reef organisms while attracting fish and other organisms that live in the ocean.

The Gardens Mall and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center have teamed up for another year to host the 6th Annual Loggerhead Marinelife Day. The event is scheduled to take place at the center court of the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens on Saturday, August 18th.

The event starts at 11 am and goes until 4 pm. Marinelife Day offers visitors a fun, interactive family friendly experience filled with sea turtles, shopping, and science. Marinelife Day will also feature an award presentation for the winner for the Juno Beach Photo Contest.

The Coral Sky Amphitheatre is located at the South Florida Fair Grounds in West Palm Beach. The open-air venue is used for shows and concerts featuring some of the hottest events and biggest musical stars.

The venue has undergone name changes throughout the last several years. The Coral Sky Amphitheatre was formally known as the Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre and has changed its name last year. Starting tomorrow August 1st, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is hosting a series of Biologist Beach Walks through the beginning of September.

The Biologist Beach Walks is a program designed to give the public an insight into the Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s research department. The Marinelife center got permission from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. A permitted staff member from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation will guide guests down onto the beaches to discuss and learn more about the hatching and nesting process of sea turtles.

Join the Jonathan Dickinson State Park next Saturday night, July 28th for the Full Moon Night Trail Run. The trail run is a challenging 10 mile run through the wildlife in 13 natural communities, including pine flat woods, mangroves, rover swamps, and sand pine scrub. Runners should expect to get wet and dirty throughout the trails.

Throughout the run, there will be four aid stations located throughout the trail with guides to help you endure the epic night fun run, as well as volunteers and a full medical and emergency staff. The iconic Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse is celebrating its 158th Anniversary this upcoming Tuesday, July 10th. The Jupiter Lighthouse was lit for the first time on July 10th, 1860 and is still in in use today.

The lighthouse is now owned by the United States Coast Guard and became one of just two other lighthouses in the United States to have become an Outstanding Natural Area 10 years ago.

During the anniversary festivities, visitors will be able to tour the museum, visit the Lighthouse Deck, Lighthouse and Keepers Workshop, Seminole Chickee, and Tindall Pioneer Homestead.

Calling all photography lovers. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach is hosting their fourth annual Juno Beach Pier Photo Contest. The Center began taking submissions on Monday, July 2nd and will last until Friday, August 10th.

Last year alone, there was over 80 photo submissions and over 40,000 views on Facebook from both beginners and experts in photography. The Juno Beach Pier is an icon in Palm Beach County and is widely popular attraction for fishermen, photographers and locals for years.
