The Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a Kid’s Fishing Program every Saturday from October through April at the Juno Beach Pier.

Children who attend the fishing program will learn the basic fishing techniques including knot tying, casting, proper release protocols, and species identification. They will also learn about the conversation of the ocean, habit protection, sea turtle recuses, and the importance of collecting and recycling the fishing line.

The program runs on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 11 am at the Juno Beach Pier. The next one is this Saturday, March 30th. Registration is required due to limited space. The children who attend will leave the fishing program with the experience and knowledge needed to be a responsible angler.

This Saturday, March 30th in Downtown Abacoa the Town of Jupiter and Jupiter Police is hosting their annual Touch A Truck event for children and families.

The family-friendly event allows children and their parents to get an up-close view and be able to touch and learn about the variety of vehicles and trucks and how they service our community. Some of the trucks and vehicles at the event include a fire truck, police vehicles, trackers, ambulances, utility trucks, school buses, garbage trucks, construction equipment, and tow trucks.

Every Thursday at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center they host an ArtSEA Kids Paint Class during the winter months.

The class begins at 10:30 am and is designed to help introduce basic sea turtle conservation and biology in young children. The art classes are geared toward children ages 3 to 5 years old.

The art class begins with a short ocean themed story and includes hands on activities before painting. Children will have to opportunity to take home their painted sea turtle figurines once the class has finished.

This week in Wellington there are plenty of events for you to attend including a Food Truck and Concert Series, Family Movie Night and a Green Market.

Tomorrow Thursday, March 28th the Wellington Amphitheater hosts its monthly Food Truck and Live Concert Series. Starting at 5 pm, the food trucks line up and prepare some of their best foods for you to enjoy. The food trucks range from burgers, seafood, pastries, desserts, tacos, Asian and much more. Jupiter’s DuBois Park is home to one of the last remaining historic homesteads of its kind in northern Palm Beach County. The DuBois Pioneer Home is a historic landmark in Jupiter. The home closed in 2008 for an extensive renovation and now the home is open to the public for tours to learn about Jupiter’s history and the DuBois family on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The historic homes was built in 1898 and belonged to Harry and Susan DuBois, South Florida Pioneers. The home is one of the last remaining self-sufficient homesteads in the area and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home also happens to be the second oldest existing home in Palm Beach County.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a program on Tuesday’s aimed for those who want to learn more about science and sea turtles.

The program is called Science for Seniors and is for those 55 years old and older to attend. The program includes Dr. Paul Brown and covers everything from biology and human health to the sea turtle’s biology and health.

The lectures are 1 hour long and those who attend all four sessions will receive a free graduation gift and a tour around the sea turtle rehabilitation center and hospital.

The cost to attend is free and the programs run from January until April. The next Science for Seniors is this Tuesday at 2 pm. Registration is required to reserve your spot, space is limited.

The registration for the 29th Annual Turtle Trot Run is officially open for registration. The Turtle Trot Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Ocean Cay Park in Jupiter.

Runners are welcomed to join in on the Turtle Trot for the 5K race. The 3.1-mile run is along A1A and the Jupiter beach. Runners will start and finish at Ocean Cay Park at Marcinski Road and A1A in Jupiter. Early Registration has ended but Registration for the Trot is now open until March 31st. After March 31st, there will be Late Registration until May 1st. No race day registration is allowed.
