Stimulus payments are now in full swing as the daily U.S. death toll from the coronavirus dipped for the second straight day, providing hope that the worst of the pandemic could soon be behind us.

  • The U.S. numbers have exploded, with more than 22,000 deaths – more than any other country – and 550,000 confirmed cases, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
  • Every major professional sports league in the country has suspended operations.
  • Forty-two states have issued stay-at-home orders.

The emergency order will go into effect on April 13 at 12:01 a.m.

Many area residents have wrongly presumed that Donald Ross Road in Jupiter was named for legendary golf course designer Donald Ross who designed Seminole Golf Club in North Palm Beach.  Beautiful gated communities such as Bears Club, Trump National, and others buffer the active roadway. Are you curious who or what inspired the busy thoroughfare’s namesake?

Ellison Wilson was a young man whose family founded Kelsey City (Lake Park).  The family moved from Tennessee to the area in 1923. Ellison was one of eight siblings who also spent many days enjoying the local waterways.  The Wilson’s had a farm along the Intracoastal Waterway, running parallel to Prosperity Farms Road (near The Benjamin School).  His mother was beloved principal of Lake Park…

If you have a child or children who have been pulled out of school due to the coronavirus pandemic, you should not plan on schools re-opening anytime soon. While there is something to be said for optimism, it is also important (more important) to face the realities of the current situation and make plans to continue teaching and helping your child learn at home.

As of yesterday, Gov. Ron DeSantis was on the fence about shutting school campuses statewide for the rest of the academic year, but he said some students may return to school sooner than others.

“We’re going to make the best decision that we can, but it may be that not every county is going to be treated the same in this,” the governor told reporters. “There is nothing wrong with that.…

South Florida residents, as well as the most people in the nation, are feverishly searching for hand sanitizer.  Here is a “Do It Yourself” procedure to make your own sanitizer at home.  It’s rather simplistic.  Prior to starting the hand sanitizer project, clean your work surface thoroughly, and make sure your hands and utensils as well. This sanitizer closely emulates the commercial kind, without all the chemicals and without the bad smell. Hand sanitizer should not replace hand washing; just use it when you really need it. Here's what you'll need:

Assemble ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup 99% rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) or 190-proof grain alcohol
  • 1/3 cup pure aloe vera gel
  • 8 to 10 drops essential oil, such as lavender, lemon, or…
