Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery, located at 373 Tequesta Drive in the quaint seaside Village of Tequesta, rouses the senses with fabric/textile exhibition entitled “Stitched” through May 27, 2021.  The exhibit is an exhibition commemorating the art of textiles.

Various collections from textile artists will be on display including Kirk Ke Wang’s, “Landscape of Human Skins.” Ke Wang’s work incorporates abandoned pieces of clothing, or as he refers, “skins”.  He incorporates clothing left behind by civilization through a succession of large-scaled colorful, mixed media collages. He uses clothing worn by immigrants and others to create a story of profound, thought-provoking compositions.

What is a cypress knee you ask? A cypress knee is a unique characteristic of a cypress tree forming above the roots. Their purpose is mysterious, and they are generally seen on trees growing in swamps. Some current theories say that they might help to “aerate the tree's roots, create a barrier to catch sediment and reduce erosion, assist in anchoring the tree in the soft and muddy soil, or any combination thereof”.

This St. Patrick’s Day follow the rainbow to the pot of gold at McCarthy’s Pub, 518 U.S. Highway One in Tequesta. Open from 2 to 10 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day, they will have food specials and live music by Billy Kamalay from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by Jimmy Gallagher from 5 p.m. to close. 

McCarthy's has been a Jupiter and Tequesta staple for over 45 years. McCarthy’s Pub has changed locations a few times, however the restaurants philosophy remains the same: to treat every guest as family, provide a welcoming meal, comforting liquid refreshment and a good time. Albeit one shepherd's pie at a time.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter Gallery, 373 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta,  is hosting the 8th Annual Plein Air Festival Sunday, March 14 through Saturday, March 20, 2021.  This art festival is known to be one of the premier Plein Air Festivals in the United States. The festival has been overhauled to meet social distancing protocols for the current times.

The word tapas are derived from the Spanish noun tapa, meaning "cover" or "lid.". Americans know tapas as a word for hors d'oeuvres served in a bar. However, there is more to the story.
