The Flagler Museum, formally known as the Whitehall estate is one of the most famous homes and landmarks on the island of Palm Beach. The elegant 100,000 square foot estate was built in 1902 by Henry Flagler as a wedding gift to his wife Mary. Henry Flagler was an American Industrialist and founder of Standard Oil, who is known for developing Florida’s east coast and responsible for making Palm Beach, America’s first resort destination.

The grand estate features 75 rooms and was built and designed in the Gilded Age. Flagler commissioned John Carrere and Thomas Hastings to design and built the mansion for Flagler. The Palm Beach Zoo is hosting a 6-day Spring Break Zoo Camp starting Monday, March 18th through Friday March 22nd and then a day camp on Monday, March 25th.

The Spring Break Zoo Camp includes up close animal encounters, zoo keeping activities, visits to the animal habitats, behind the scenes tours, arts and crafts, games, scientific experiments, carousel rides and other educational activities.

The Zoo Camp is aimed for children ages 5 through 10 years old. The hours for the camp are from 9 am to 4 pm. There will also be before care and after care from 8:15 am to 9 am and 4 pm to 5:30 pm for an additional charge.

The walking tours are led by Historian Rick Rose who leads a fun and exciting tour around Palm Beach in his brightly colored suits and hats. The tours last approximately an hour and fifteen minutes.

Tomorrow, Saturday Feburary 9th is the big day for the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. The museum opens its doors after eight years of construction and renovations. The museum has undergone a $100 million renovations that were done by the award-winning British Architectural Design and Engineering firm, Foster + Partners.

The museum had to start fundraising campaigns to raise $100 million dollars for the renovations and continued to raise money until the renovations were completed.

The Palm beach Zoo and Conservation Society is a non-profit organization and one of Florida’s top-rated Zoological Organizations. The popular zoo is located in Dreher Park in West Palm Beach. The zoo is home to over 550 animals and over 190 different species. Many of the animals here are endangered and roam through the 23 acres of tropical habit. Most recently the Zoo has welcomed a new Baird’s Tapir Calf, or a Central American Tapir which are native to Mexico, Central America, and northwestern South America. The baby calf was born January 20th.
