Every Saturday morning, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is continuing to host their Self-Guided Beach Cleanup through the new year. Every weekend, volunteers head to the beach to participate in helping keep our local beaches and ocean clean.

The Self-Guided Beach Cleanup Program was introduced in 2020 as a new program that has been added to the calendar weekly. Volunteers who wish to participate are asked to stop by Marine Debris Sorting Station on the back deck of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach to pick up their cleanup supplies. Once supplies picked up, volunteers can make their way down to the beach to start the cleanup. With visitors still in town for the holidays, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their popular events this week to end the year. The Loggerhead Marinelife Center is dedicated to helping protect the ocean, marine life and injured and endangered sea turtles through their rehabilitation center and research programs.

Public Guided Tours

Public Guided Tours are offered twice a day at 12 pm and then again at 2 pm. Those who attend will get an up-close look at the outdoor sea turtle hospital and get to see the sea turtles housed at the center. On Saturday mornings throughout the year, The Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a Self-Guided Beach Cleanup. Every weekend, volunteers head to the beach to participate in helping to keep our local beaches and ocean clean from debris and trash.

The Self-Guided Beach Cleanup is a new program this year that has been added weekly to their event calendar. Those who wish to participate are asked to stop by the Marine Debris Sorting Station on the back deck of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center to pick up your beach cleanup supplies. Once supplies picked up, volunteers can make their way down to the beach to begin. When finished, simply bring your trash bag back to the Loggerhead Marinelife Center and pick up a free t-shirt as a Thank You for helping gift.

A new artificial reef program has started off the coast of Palm Beach. This past Monday, November 16th, 55 artificial reefs were deployed off the coast as part of the new project called 1,000 Mermaids that works with the Ocean Rescue Alliance. 

The new project is an artificial reef project that creates reef module to make more habitat on the bottom of the ocean for marine life. The artificial reefs arrived to the Port of Palm Beach on Friday of last week and the reefs were received and picked up to start the project. The non-profit, Ocean Rescue Alliance says that reef builders, and donations helped to make these artificial reef structures possible.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach has recorded the third highest record numbers for the 2020 Sea Turtle Nesting Season. The Sea Turtle Nesting season begins on February 28th and last until October 31st and despite having an active hurricane season, the center recently announced another successful season.

During the few months of the nesting season, Marinelife Center staff surveyed the beach in northern Palm Beach County. Researchers have said that this year they have documented 16,935 sea turtle nests along the beach. The nests included: 286 leatherbacks, 13,059 loggerheads, 3,590 green sea turtle nests.

The Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach hosts their popular Public Guided Tours everyday for visitors to get an up-close look at the sea turtle rehabilitation and research center.

Visitors will learn about each sea turtle patient housed there during the tours and the Loggerhead Marinelife Staff will be there to answer all of your questions about sea turtles, the ocean, the center itself, and marine life.

The daily Public Guided Tours are offered twice a day due to their popularity. The tours are offered at 12 pm and 2 pm and last approximately an hour. All are welcomed to attend, and the tours cost $10 dollars for adults and $5 dollars for children. The tours are limited to a certain number of people and registration is required online.

This November, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting a list of calendar events for the whole family to enjoy. Head to the iconic lighthouse this month and join in on the fun filled events.

Lighthouse Sunset Tour: Wednesday, November 4th, 11th, and 18th

Climb to the top of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse on Wednesday nights and take advantage of the spectacular sunset views and watch the lighthouse turn on to illuminate the sky. In addition, visitors will get an inside look at the Lighthouse Watchroom to see how everything works and learn the history of the lighthouse along the way. The tours last approximately an hour and tickets must be purchased online prior to the event.  The tours start at 4:45 pm.

The Town of Jupiter is home to one of the few remaining dog friendly beaches in the state of Florida. The town adopted the idea in 1989, that allowed dogs to roam on freely on the 2.5 miles of sandy beach in Jupiter.

The Jupiter Dog Beach stretched from Marcinski Road at Beach Marker #25, north to Carlin Park Beach Maker #57. In the designated areas, dogs are welcomed to roam freely and must be supervised at all times.

Dogs are allowed on the beach from sunrise to sunset. The Town of Jupiter has a set of rules they would like everyone to follow when bringing your pet to the beach.
