The city of Palm Beach Gardens is suitably named, as it is comprised of 30 percent flourishing greenery. Located seven miles north of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens is known for its excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities at the Gardens Mall, Downtown at the Gardens, and Legacy Place. Boating and fishing are plentiful, as are beautiful luxurious waterfront homes, some even sitting directly on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, if not the Intracoastal Waterway.

South Florida Fishing

12.5.14 Fishing Report

This past week in South Florida has been pretty blown out due to the windy weather conditions and most boats have been tied at the dock. December 5, 2014: East Winds 15-20 knots. The weather conditions this weekend look a bit more encouraging this Saturday and Sunday, just in time for the Holiday Boat Parade!

One way for Florida residents to support sea turtle conservation is to purchase a sea turtle specialty license plate. Proceeds from the specialty license plates help fund the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Marine Turtle Protection Program.

Florida is a key location for endangered and threatened sea turtles of the world.  Sea turtles nest on our Florida shores and forage for food in our estuaries. Five species of turtles are found nesting on Florida beaches and protected by Florida state statutes.  Illegal harvesting, habitat encroachment, pollution, and hazardous boating are some of the things sea turtles fight to survive.

If you ever encounter an injured or dead sea turtle, please report it to Florida Fish and Wildlife…

Fishing Report
Rough and windy ocean kept a bunch of boats at the dock this past week and the weather doesn’t look so enticing this weekend due to the cold fronts, there has been a bit of fishing inconsistency.

OFFSHORE:
With the extreme breezy weather, it may have perked up the fishing offshore! South Florida offshore should expect some schools of dolphin in the 150’-300’ range. The past few cold fronts that have moved in have helped the sailfish jump our way. Boats that are on the lookout for these sails should see multiple per day. Fishermen have been dropping a line to the bottom and have been hooking up on some nice size mutton snappers and couple groupers too.

INSHORE/SURF/PIER:
Inshore action remains best early in the mornings and late evenings. The flats fishing…

Beginning in early November, Palm Beach County began hauling 200,000 cubic yards of beach sand for a beach renourishment project south of the Jupiter Inlet at Carlin Park.  Approximately 120 truckloads of sand will be delivered from a mine in Port St. Lucie daily.  The trucks will travel via I-95 to Indiantown Road to a staging area at Carlin Park, 400 A1A, Jupiter, during off peak hours to avoid impacts on traffic and morning rush hour.

Palm Beach County Tourist Development Tax and the State of Florida fund the $5.5 million renourishment beach project.  The sand will be placed along 3,500 feet of beach front and 200,000 dune plants will be planted.  Work on the beach project will take place between sunrise…
