The 7th Annual Spiny Lobster Fest is back and is happening this weekend at the Sailfish Marina on Singer Island.

The family-friendly event features a variety of local lobster dishes, live music and entertainment, nautical art, marine sports appeal, water slides, kid’s activities, street vendors, silent auctions and much more.

The popular “Lobster Pet Costume Contest” will be returning again this year and the crowd favorite will win a grand prize gift basket from the Woof Gang Bakery and a weekend stay at the Sailfish Marina Resort.

The Grassy Water Preserve is hosting their Kayak Cruise on Saturday, August 3rd at their Nature Center.

During the Kayak Cruise, you’ll guide through the shallow waters of the Everglades while learning about the history and ecology of the Grassy Water Preserve.

The Kayak Cruise begins at 9:30 am on Saturday, August 3rd. With Check-in beginning at 9 am at the Nature Center on Northlake Boulevard. Space is limited and reservations are required to participate. Everyday throughout the month of August, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their Hatchling Releases.

The Hatchling Release program is a unique experience that allows the public to learn about the nesting and hatching process of sea turtles. The program is an after-hours program and begins at 8 pm every night during the month. The night begins where visitors can view the center’s current sea turtle patients in their outdoor Sea Turtle Hospital, followed by a trip down to the beach to see a Marinelife staff member release a sea turtle hatchling into the ocean.

This month, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting several events for the whole family to enjoy.

Twilight Yoga at The Light: The class is led by Yoga Instructor Mary Veal and is open to all levels of Yoga. The class begins at sunset on the Lighthouse Deck and experience the serenity of Yoga while watching the sun set over the water. You are asked to bring your own yoga mat, a water bottle and a flashlight to the class. The cost is $10 dollars per person and the classes are weather dependent. This Thursday, August 1st the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is releasing a Sea Turtle back into the ocean. Pre-release procedures begin at 10 am with the Release beginning at 10:30 am.

The turtle being released is Vitti, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle that was found in February in the Florida Power and Light St. Lucie intake canal. When the turtle came into the center, the turtle was underweight, lethargic, in poor health and the blood work showed anemia and hypoglycemia. After a few months of treatment and medicine, Vitti is now able to be released into the ocean.

Vitti will be prepared for release on Thursday at 10 am and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center staff will go over the turtle’s history and recovery. The sea turtle releases are weather…

Tonight, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their reoccurring Lighthouse Sunset Tour.

Come and climb to the top of the iconic Jupiter Lighthouse and see the spectacular sunset views over the water and the town of Jupiter. Visitors will also get to witness the light turn on and illuminate the sky and get a sneak peak into the lighthouse Watch Room to see how everything works.

The tours are approximately 75 minutes long and cost $20 dollars per person or $15 dollars per lighthouse members. Rapids Water Park is a popular summer attraction in Palm Beach County. The water park is the largest water park in all of South Florida with more than 30 acres of space. The park features 42 slides and attractions including a wave pool, lazy river, a kid’s zone, surfing, body boarding, and giant water slides.

The water park and slides range in all levels of intensity, some of the slides can hold up to 6 people at a time. This year marks the water park’s 40th Anniversary and opened for the summer season in March. This month, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting two Sea Turtle Sleepovers.

The Sea Turtle Sleepover is an exclusive over night event held at the Marinelife Center. The popular event features a tour of the Sea Turtle Hospital, games, activities, scavenger hunts, tours of the aquariums, an ocean themed movie, pizza, snacks and much more. Those who attend are welcomed to bring their own drinks and snacks, the center asks that they are in reusable containers and bottles.

The sleepover is for children ages 8 through 12 years old. This is a drop-off only event and parents and chaperones are invited to stay the night and participate in all activities during the night.
