Every Sunday during the month of December, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center, in Juno Beach, is hosting their reoccurring Hammock Hike. The Hammock Hike consists of an entirely outdoor excursion into the coastal hammock habitat near the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center.

The program will cover and discuss the importance of these coastal ecosystems, explain and identify plants and animals, and the hike will end with an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. The hike is led by one of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s experienced biologists.

All ages are welcome to attend the Hammock Hike. The event is an outdoor walking excursion and lasts approximately 45 minutes.

The 27th Annual Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade wound up in Jupiter last night. The premier event of the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County and gift to the community took place last night. The 2021 "Merry and Bright" Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade kicked off the holiday season. The annual boat parade has always been a huge community event and last did not fail Jupiter residents! South Florida residents should be aware of more restrictive measures announced Thursday by President Biden as the Omicron variant of COVID-19, has been detected in the United States. New regulations are just continuations of what people who have been traveling internationally.

Starting next week, all travelers entering the U.S., regardless of their vaccination status or nationality, must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test within one calendar day of their departing flight. Previously, a negative test administered up to three days before boarding a flight was considered valid. Biden has also extended the current rule mandating mask-wearing on airplanes, trains, buses, and at airports which were scheduled to expire in January to mid-March.

The loved “sea cows” are massive marine mammals that live in the coastal waters of Florida.

Manatees have earned the reputation as gentle giants.  They are large, slow-moving marine mammals with an elongated, round body and paddle-shaped flippers and tails. Manatees are herbivores, feeding solely on seagrass, algae, and other vegetation in freshwater and estuarine systems in the southeastern United States.  Manatees on average weigh up to 1,000 pounds and up to ten feet in length.
