Loggerhead Marinelife Center biologists revealed the first leatherback sea turtle nest of 2016.  The experts suspect that this discovered nest is the first in Florida, possibly the first in the United States.  It was located approximately 100 feet south of the popular Juno Beach Pier.

For more than 80 years, the Okeechobee County Cattlemen’s Association has brought cowboy heritage to South Florida.  The Okeechobee Rodeo, also known as “Cow Town” Rodeo is an official stop on the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA). 

The Okeechobee Rodeo is believed to be the second longest running rodeo in the State of Florida.  The longest running rodeo is the Silver Spurs Rodeo in Kissimmee, which will hold its 136th annual event this year.  Okeechobee is just 50 miles west of Palm Beach County, one of Florida’s premiere agriculture communities.

Wheels for Kids was established in 2003 to “provide custom wheelchairs to children with special needs who can neither purchase them nor qualify for public or charitable funding.”  Customized wheelchairs are costly and children outgrow them quickly.  Many middle class families that have children with disabilities find it difficult to keep up with the advanced evolution and cost of wheelchairs.  Many families with special needs children fall between the cracks of private insurance and government support.  Wheels for Kids addresses these needs by directly helping the families.
