Southeast Florida pays homage to Louisiana and all things in common with the Sunshine State.  On November 9, National Louisiana Day recognizes the state that brought us such treasures as Jazz, Creole, Beignets and Mardi Gras.

Louisiana has a moist subtropical climate just like South Florida. Both states are "classic" examples of a sultry climate with long, warm, humid summers and short, mild winters. Comparatively, Tampa and New Orleans are relatively similar in climate.  Tampa has less rainfall and precipitation.  Florida claims more sunny days than Louisiana too. Veterans Day marks an important day in U.S. history- the anniversary of the end of World War I.

 Boca Raton has a new late-night destination with “algo fresco” (something fresh or new).  The Locale, 499 South Federal Highway in Boca Raton is an eclectic spot serving up a fusion of fun and food.  They serve unconventional Latin inspired American dishes. Little Moir’s Food Shack in Jupiter is known for its inspired fresh fish dishes and live music, but this Sunday they’re using their culinary gifts for a greater good.

On Sunday, November 4th from 5-8 pm, Food Shack will be hosting a night with dinner, drinks, live music, a silent auction, and raffles to fundraise for other families who may not be able to afford a large Thanksgiving.

Tickets are $85, and 100% of ticket sales and proceeds will go to Merciful Heavens of Jupiter, Florida. The natural language of around 500,000 deaf people in the US and Canada is American Sign Language (ASL). Loggerhead Marinelife Center has decided to make things easier for their wide range of visitors by offering ASL tours in addition to their regularly scheduled daily tours.

ASL-guided tours are now available upon request and led by a fluent guide ready to share exciting educational information about their incredible sea turtle research and rehabilitation efforts. Tours usually last for an hour and are $10 a person with a five-person or $50 minimum.
