This past weekend, sportfishing yachts, center consoles, and even superyachts travelled to Old Bahama Bay for what is now the largest fishing tournament ever held at the West End resort, the 2021 OBB Wahoo Charity Cup. Not only did 45 boats register in the tournament, but Old Bahama Bay sold out their rooms for the first time in 10 years!

After adhering to Bahamian customs law in which all travelers had to test negative for Covid-19, participants were greeted with Harry’s famous conch salad, fresh banana bread, goombay smashes, and the hospitable smiles of local residents.

Having been postponed since November of 2020 due to inclement weather, the tournament was a welcome weekend of festivities and fishing in a community missed and loved by so many.…

Head on over to Jupiter beach this Saturday morning and join the Friends of Jupiter Beach as they help clean up the area shoreline.  Friends of Jupiter Beach is a nonprofit 501(c)3 whose goal is to support and maintain environmentally health, clean and dog-friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida.

In 1994, the threat of closing the beach to dogs rallied a small group of concerned citizens, who quickly began organizing beach cleanups and providing dog waste bags at beach crossovers. Since then, the group has exploded, with individuals and businesses joining in an effort which “repeatedly demonstrate care for their marine environment and the privilege of taking our four-footed friends to one of the last dog beaches in the area”.

On February 1st, the much awaited 2021 recreational snook season opens in Palm Beach County for the duration of February, March, April, and May until the last day on May 31st. 

South Florida snook is one of the most prized and most regulated fish due to a few good reasons. Snook not only puts up a powerful fight, but its mildly-firm white meat has an excellent flavor due to its diet of crustaceans and other small fish. Because of this, if snook fishing was left unmanaged, they would surely be a rare sight.

Buying or selling a snook in the state of Florida is illegal, so if you’re dying to feast on this sly silver fish, you’ll just have to catch it yourself!

Country music star Kenny Chesney's "No Shoes Reefs" organization’s first artificial reef deployment of a four 10,000 lb goliath reef balls about .5 miles off Delray Beach kicks off the development of a 32-acre underwater reef park in Palm Beach County.

No Shoes Reefs partnered with Palm Beach County Reefs, CCA Florida, Reef Ball Foundation, Sandoway Discovery Center, Building Conservation Trust and Global SubDive to deploy 130,000 pounds of goliath reef balls. Reefs matter for us and for the environment in countless ways. Artificial reefs are useful tools for restoring our reef systems to a natural and productive balance.

The 2021 Old Bahama Bay Wahoo Charity Cup is actually the postponed tournament from November of 2020, and will take place on February 4th-6th at OBB Resort & Marina in West End Grand Bahama to benefit Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI.

In 2019, a total of 37 boats registered, and Team LLANGUS earned first place overall with a 132.7lb three-fish aggregate. Second place went to CORKS CREW with a 130.7 lb aggregate and biggest tuna at 24.2 lbs. 45’ Gamefisherman CHIEF placed third place overall with 126.4 pounds of wahoo.

The first year of the tournament paid out over $40,000 in prize money and raised over $105,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma NI.
