Palm Beach County is home to the John D MacArthur Beach State Park, the only state park located within the county.  The park was established in 1989 and its purpose is to protect Florida’s southeast coast.

The park is located in North Palm Beach and is situated between the Lake Worth Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The park is home to more than seven species of plants, more than 22 species of animal’s roam throughout the park and features more than 438 acres of natural environment.

An Estuary is located within the northern section of the park and features an Anastacia Limestone Rock Reef that was formed more than 125,00 years ago. The reef is mostly made of limestone and is one of Palm Beach County’s best snorkeling spots.

 The Andrew "Red" Harris Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2021 artificial reef project is about to begin with the deployment of the first of five 500-ton barge loads of huge 8' long concrete culverts offshore of the Jupiter inlet! This year's project benefits from Forterra's donation of 2500 culverts valued at $450,000 to the Andrew "Red" Harris Foundation. The culverts are presently being trucked and staged for loading on barges that will begin deploying a mile off the Jupiter inlet in the first week of May.

Every week, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts several events for the public to learn more about sea turtles and the center’s rehabilitation and research efforts through their sea turtle hospital and rehabilitation center. The events are open to the public and the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is one of northern Palm Beach County most popular attractions. On Saturday mornings, the center hosts a Kids Fishing Program aimed for children ages 8 through 12.

For six brown pelicans, freedom was only a few flaps of their wings away. Two adult and four juvenile pelicans were released back into the wild last week by Busch Wildlife Sanctuary.  Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife hospital and education center headquartered in the Town of Jupiter since 1983.

For nearly two months, the pelicans were patients at the sanctuary's wildlife hospital. Some had been treated for injuries incurred after they became entangled in fishing gear. The others were treated for exhaustion because of migration.

The Andrew “Red” Harris Foundation has been artificial reef building over the past 7 years. The Foundation is in Jupiter and pursued the foundation's mission of "enhancing and protecting the marine environment" by raising over $2 million to build over 1.5 miles of new reefs offshore of Jupiter and Juno Beach.

The Foundation was created to honor the memory of Andrew Harris who was struck by a boat while snorkeling in the Jupiter Inlet on June 8, 2014. The foundation’s work will help assure the long-term health and vibrancy of the local marine environment where Andrew loved to dive and fish.

The River Center in Jupiter is open to the public on selected days of the week for tours and events. The Loxahatchee River Environmental Center or just The River Center opened in August 2008 and features a collection of freshwater and saltwater aquariums with native sea life including touch tanks.

The mission of the River Center is to foster a sense of environmental stewardship for the Loxahatchee River’s diverse watershed through quality exhibits, educational programs, and meaningful events.  The center features live aquatic tanks, interactive exhibits, and a touch tank that represent the Loxahatchee River system.
