Last week, Governor DeSantis and County Commissioners announced that parks and some recreational facilities in Palm Beach County were allowed to begin Phase One of Reopening Florida. The parks and recreational facilities are open with social distancing and restrictions. 

Parks Restrictions:

  • Park hours limited to sunrise to sunset
  • Park is open for walking, biking, hiking, strolling, and running. Fishing, kayaking, canoeing, bike rentals, water skiing, wake boarding are also permitted as long as social distance is practiced.
  • All playgrounds, picnic areas, concession stands, camp grounds, dog parks, field sports, skate parks, organized sports, gymnasiums, aquatic splash zones, fitness areas, recreational buildings must remain closed.

Good news coming out of South Florida as the famous Breakers Resort announced this past Friday they plan to reopen their doors on May 22.

“In response to COVID-19 and in compliance with all government recommendations and orders, The Breakers and all related businesses will remain temporarily closed until our intended reopening at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 22,” the hotel said in a statement issued at 5 p.m. Friday.

“The health and safety of our guests and team members remain The Breakers’ highest priority,” the statement said.

The hotel, Palm Beach’s grand dame of resorts, announced March 17 that it would close the following day for at least three weeks in response to the threat of the coronavirus pandemic. The resort also closed its related…

County Commissioners met last week to discuss reopening Martin County and the steps to take. The meeting was held Friday morning at The Blake Library in downtown Stuart.  

Starting today, Monday, May 4th, Martin County is reopening golf courses, boat ramps, parks and beaches, however Hobe Sound Beach will remain closed due to its close proximity to Palm Beach County where the beaches remain closed.  Bathtub Beach will also remain closed in Martin County. 

 In addition to all county parks, private and public golf courses and boat ramps opening racquet sports will be allowed at parks, pavilions will reopen but playgrounds will remain closed.  Boat ramps will be open for commercial or recreational use.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is gearing up for the majority of his state to enter phase one of the reopening process Monday amid the coronavirus outbreak, and he says he’s optimistic.

DeSantis told Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” he will exercise caution but has been looking forward to making progress.

“I think tomorrow is going to be a small step, I think it’s going to be a measured step, but I think it’s going to be an important step for people of Florida to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel,” DeSantis said. “We’re going to follow a safe, smart, step-by-step approach to Florida’s recovery. A generous group of volunteers in Delray Beach offered additional support for the frontline healthcare workers at the Delray Medical Center, 5352 Linton Boulevard, Delray Beach. The hospital has served the South Palm Beach County community for 30 years as a 536-bed acute care hospital.  The medical center is a community hospital and a Level I Trauma Center.  The hospital offers highly specialized services such as neuroscience, oncology, cardiac care, orthopedics, rehabilitation and E.R.

As a sign of appreciation, this weekend volunteers in South Palm Beach County increased efforts to deliver about 100 care packages to healthcare workers at Delray Medical Center. The packages were filled with all the ingredients to prepare a healthy meal.…

Grouper season in Atlantic state waters in Florida is May 1st until December 31st. Grouper are managed differently in Gulf versus Atlantic and in state versus federal waters. Here are the regulations for Atlantic state waters, which are from shore to 3 nautical miles.

Size Limits

The minimum size limit for gag and black grouper is 24” total length, the minimum size for red, scamp, yellowfin, and yellowmouth grouper is 20” total length, and there is no minimum size for rock hind/red hind, coney/graysby, yellowedge/misty, warsaw, or snowy grouper.

The total length is the maximum length of the fish, with the mouth closed and the tail fin pinched together.

Phase 1 of Florida's reopening is set to begin Monday with some restaurants and retail stores opening on a limited capacity. But what will Phase 2 entail and when will it start allowing for businesses like bars, gyms, and salons to open?

Gov. Ron DeSantis' "Re-open Florida Task Force" is recommending bars, nightclubs and other businesses could reopen under Phase 2. Click here to see the complete three phases of the state’s reopening.
