The John D MacArthur State Park is the only state park located within Palm Beach County. The park was established in 1989 and the purpose of the park is to protect Florida’s southeast coast.

The state park is situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Lake Worth Lagoon. The park features 438 acres of natural environment, more than seven species of plants and more than twenty-two species of animals that inhabit the park. Many of the animals that inhabit the park are either endangered or threatened.

The MacArthur State Park in North Palm Beach is the only state park in Palm Beach County. The state park preserves the natural heritage of the subtropical coastal habitat in Southeast Florida.

MacArthur Park is nestled along the Atlantic Ocean on a barrier island and houses several rare or endangered tropical and coastal plant species. The park stretches nearly two miles of the sandy beach. Activities include swimming, bird watching, surfing, fishing, and snorkeling in the clear blue waters.

The incorporated village of North Palm Beach is located in northern Palm Beach County along the intracoastal waterways and the Atlantic Ocean. The quite village has won an award in 1956 from the National Association of Home Builders as the best planned community. The village is home to about 13,000 residents as of 2017.

The North Palm Beach area was developed in the 1950’s by John D. MacArthur, a philanthropist. The village known for its golfing and famous PGA Tour residents is also home to the only state park in Palm Beach County.

For the past eight months, the North Palm Beach Country Club’s golf course has under gone renovations and recently reopened its municipal course to the public. The golf course is located within a couple miles of some of the world’s best.

Construction on the course began in May of 2018 and was a major part of a project conducted by the Village of North Palm Beach. In addition to a redesign of the golf course, the project also calls for a new clubhouse which is scheduled to open later this year.

On Saturday, August 11th, the Village of North Palm Beach will be hosting the annual Kids’ Fishing Derby onshore at Anchorage Park.

This family-friendly event is free and open to all kids, and there is no pre-registration required. Junior anglers will be able to fish from shores, seawalls, and piers with parent supervision, and all fish caught will be properly released.

There will be awards and prizes given for largest fish in each age group at the awards picnic at 4:00 pm. Food and drink are available for purchase.

Get your kids together and bring your fishing gear to Anchorage Park this Saturday!
