The annual Winter Equestrian Festival starts this January at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington. Wellington is the home to the world’s premier winter equestrian event every year.

Each year participates range in age from 2 years old to 70 years old and more than 6,000 horses compete for more than a half a billion dollars. The Winter Equestrian Festival starts in early January and ends in late March. During the course of the three months, the festival is the longest and largest running horse show that sees some of the best riders of their class. Riders come from all 50 states and more than 52 countries and feature adult amateurs, juniors, children and Olympians.

This weekend, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting their Hike Through History event.

The Hike Through History includes a 2-mile journey through the lighthouse’s 120 acres Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area. Along the way, guests will learn about the history that was shaped by nature.

The program is open to adults and children. Children must be accompanied by an adult and be at least 5 years old. Hiker footwear, active wear clothing, a hat and a full water bottle are recommended for the Hike. The Hike starts at the Museum’s flagpole and the event is weather dependent.

Riverbend Park is a 680-acre preserve in Jupiter and is an ideal destination for hikers who want a taste of the wilds of Southeast Florida without getting their feet wet. More than 15 miles of interconnected trails and roads make up the trail network. The hiking trails are engineered, broad walkways of compacted limestone. Signage and kiosks make it nearly impossible to get lost. It’s nature, tamed, making it accessible to city dwellers who’d otherwise never take a hike.

The park is open sunrise to one hour before sunset daily. Strollers are welcome. Trails, which are fortified with crushed Limerock, are shared with bicycles. The equestrian trails afford a more natural surface. There are portable toilets at several spots within the park. An…

Carlin Park is probably Jupiter’s most popular park. It includes picknick tables, a large exercise course, the Lazy Loggerhead Café, an amphitheater, tennis courts, volleyball courts, a baseball diamond and, of course, lots and lots of sand and water.
