This weekend, Downtown Abacoa is having a Children’s Festival and Summer Camp Expo hosted by Macaroni Kid’s. Come out this Sunday afternoon and enjoy a fun filled family day.

The day will include family-friendly businesses, a chance to meet some people from the local schools and browse through the numerous summer camps that will be held this summer. More than 30 amazing summer camps will be there to discuss and provide information.

Bathtub Reef is one of Hutchinson Island’s best beaches. The beach has soft sand, warm water, and lots of room to lounge and layout in the sun.

Bathtub Beach is special, due in large part to this reef system just offshore, home to more than 500 marine creatures, including endangered sea turtles. This reef system is created by tiny tube-building Sabellariid sea worms and is not only incredibly unique but also an extremely fragile one. The worms cement sand grains together, creating a vast network of tube dwellings. Colonies build on top of one another over time and create a reef system that helps break waves in the summer months, creating a “bathtub effect.”
