The Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, located at 1451 South Olive Avenue, is currently closed for renovations.  The renowned museum which has been moving toward its $100 million capital goal, made a big leap with a $16 million donation from philanthropist, seasonal Palm Beach resident and self-made hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin.

It comes as no surprise to the art world that Mr. Griffin enjoys collecting art.  However, when Griffin  spent $500 million in February 2016 to buy two paintings by Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock he not only made waves in the art market, it was a tsunami!  Because of the donation, the museum will honor Mr. Griffin's name on the new 59,000-square-foot wing, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect…

The space formerly occupied by Macy’s on Rosemary Avenue in CityPlace has undergone a transformation into an experiential cultural arts center. Known as the “Culture Lab,” sophisticated art experiences will be offered including culinary walk-up windows, educational programing and events, and art installations. The two-story building will feature an art assemblage on the first floor, a sound installation on the second floor, and an art installation on the exterior.

The current first floor exhibition is a yearlong visual art project entitled Assemblage: An Organically Grown Exhibition, with the work of two artists, Ioanna Pantazopoulou and Jennifer Steinkamp, and additional artists will be integrated at the exhibit’s culminating event in December…

En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air”, and it refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and heart of a landscape or subject by integrating natural light, color and movement into their works. French impressionist artists, Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Cezanne, as well as other artists of that period who painted outdoor landscapes, were best known as the greatest plein air artists.

The Norton Museum of Art in West Palm presents Art After Dark for summertime. 

Now through July 12th the museum will be open late on Thursdays for fun events throughout the evening like gallery walk and talks, art workshops, live music, happy hour drinks and special lectures.
