DON’T GET US DOWN… 

Perhaps, “Rainy days and Mondays” got the Carpenters down because they didn’t live in our area!  If the immensely popular brother and sister duo from the 1970’s had chosen South Florida, they might have found plenty of things to do on a rainy day, but they wouldn’t have had that Billboard Top 100 record and their fourth gold single!   

If you’re not familiar with the duo The Carpenters, they were in great demand in the 1970’s.  Richard and Karen created a soft musical style that made them top selling artists when most contemporary music was hard hitting rock and roll.   They recorded 11 albums and television specials.

40th-Anniversary Screening of ‘Deliverance’ to be Followed by Talk with Star Burt Reynolds

John Boorman’s Deliverance still proves to be a heart-pounding ride through the spectrum of human emotions.

When four businessmen from Atlanta decide to spend an afternoon canoeing down a river in the Georgia wilderness, they find themselves in an entirely new element. Veteran outdoorsman Lewis, played by Burt Reynolds, and his three inexperienced colleagues, are confronted with an unexpected problem when their peaceful trip is interrupted by a group of backwoods locals.

Nominated for three Academy Awards and widely considered one of the greatest thrillers of all time, Deliverance is celebrating its 40th anniversary at The Lyric Theatre in Stuart. Following the Aug. 16 screening, legendary actor Burt Reynolds will take the stage for a talkback session.

SLIP, SLIDE, and SPLASH INTO SUMMER FUN

Current temperatures have been in the mid 80’s and the Jupiter area sun has been smiling down on the beach.
