Seattle based Nordstrom, Inc. announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at the Palm Beach Outlets in West Palm Beach.  The 35,000 square foot store is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2014.

Palm Beach Outlets is a 900,000 square foot retail center in Palm Beach County.  Easily accessible from I-95 on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, just minutes from the ideal Jupiter/Tequesta area.  It will feature 80 – 100 outlet stores and an adjacent retail center with “a dynamic mix of tenants”.

The third annual Pontiki Conch Bar Jam music event will be held on Saturday at the Tequesta Sand Bar. Located on the Intracoastal Waterway just north of Indiantown Road, the event will feature music by Big Vince and the Phat Cats, Moska Project, and Seagrape Shouldjah's. There will also be a BBQ featuring Cheney Brothers, Confederate Smoke Competition, and Tree Locators.

Each year the festival picks a charity to recieve a portion of the proceeds. This year they have chosen the Big Dog Ranch Rescue which is a unique no-kill dog rescue located in Wellington. Big Dog's mission is to provide shelter, care, and affection to homeless and unwanted dogs of all breeds and to adopt them out to loving homes.

Back in the early 1960’s, cattlemen would drive herds down Indiantown Road from Pratt & Whitney towards the Burt Reynolds Ranch in Jupiter Farms.  Florida had an outbreak of “fever ticks” that was deadly to cattle.  Florida’s cattlemen began to lose cattle and their means to make a living.

The southern fever tick epidemic was introduced to Florida from Texas cattle and nearly cost the cattle industry $10,000,000. The USDA implemented a mandatory cattle-dipping program.  This was a period of “open range”, meaning no fence laws and the cattle roamed freely.

The Florida Cattleman’s Association also  supported “cattle dipping program”.  The dipping program required every cow in South Florida to be rounded up and drove to the nearest pen with a dipping solution…

Divosta Homes has proposed a 350 home community with office and retail space west of I-95 in Jupiter.  Lakewood Development, a proposed community on 260 acres along West Indiantown Road across from Jupiter Country Club, will comes before the Jupiter Town Council on August 8.

The proposal calls for a 150,000 square foot research facility, a 6,000 square foot restaurant, convenience store and 20-pump gas station. Original plans submitted to the Jupiter Town Council also reflected a 100-room hotel, but it is no longer in DiVosta Homes plan.
 
The parcel of land is one of the last large, undeveloped parcels in Jupiter. The Lakewood project, is now on what is referred to as Parcel 19, was purchased by Jupiter 19…

Florida, Power & Light will be replacing feeder lines, cables that provide electricity to local barrier islands, as needed. Palm Beach, Jupiter Island and Singer Island are some of the barrier islands within the state of Florida that will have the cables replaced.  Years ago, Florida, Power & Light buried the cables under the floor of the Intracoastal Waterway.  These cables fee electricity from the mainland to the barrier island and all the residents.  Overtime, shifting currents and sand have exposed many of the cables.

FPL plans on replacing one cable per year.  Substituting cables will cost from $1 million to $3 million each. By replacing the cables, it enables them to deliver power as well as reroute power around trouble spots to strengthen the system…
