The six round marathon that is the Web.com Tour Q School concluded Tuesday at PGA National and Canadian Brad Fritsch won with a six day total of 27-under par. It was a seven shot win for the one time PGA Tour pro and his first ever as a professional golfer.

Fritsch had to hold off 150 other golfers on both the Fazio and Champion Courses over the six day event and now is fully exempt on the Web.com Tour in 2015.

“It was the best I’ve seen Brad play, no question,” added Fritsch’s caddie of three years, Jeff Scott. “His ball striking was awesome, and his putting was on a different level. He made a ton of putts every day.”

Fritsch had an interesting story on how he ended up at Q School. He finished last season on the PGA Tour at number 151 and the…

Pablo Picasso is arguably one of the most recognized artists of our times.  Picasso had two wives and many mistresses.  He loved women. He was notorious for always having a beautiful woman with him.  Behind every artist, there is a muse.

These “muses” greatly inspired his work. His wives, mistresses and various liaisons inspired his artwork.  The women inspired him to create one of the largest bodies of art in history.

The Norton Museum of Art, 1451 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach is “celebrating the women who inspired the master artist.”  Jerry Dobrick, museum curator associate for the Norton, describes “Picasso’s Muses” as a small, but poignant exhibit.  The exhibit includes six powerful depictions of Picasso’s lovers during various periods…

Florida, Power & Light executives broke ground on a manatee education center December 11, 2014.  FP&L is the third largest electric utility company in the United States, with 4.7 million customers in Florida.  The learning center will raise awareness about the marine mammal species for years to come.

Manatees have been migrating back to the Lake Worth Lagoon and other areas in South Florida seeking warm water refuge for many years.  The manatee needs warmth when the surrounding water temperature drops below 68 degrees.  FP&L has supported manatee research for decades.  The electric company has sponsored tagging, monitoring and aerial surveys with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to aid in assessing manatee…

Manatee season is in full effect in South Florida.  This campaign is called “Operation Mermaid”.  During this period, a tremendous percentage of manatees swim to South Florida for the warmer waters.

Manatees are large, herbivorous marine mammals also known as sea cows.  Their bodies taper to a flat, paddle like tail.  They have two forelimbs, called flippers, with three to four nails on each flipper.  Their head and face are furrowed with whiskers on the snout.

The manatee needs warmth when surrounding water temperatures drop below 68 degrees.  The Florida manatee lives in brackish, salt and fresh water coastal areas around Florida, such as Stuart, Jupiter, Delray and Boca Raton.  The plant eating mammal surfaces every three to five minutes to…

The property located at 16133 Jupiter Farms Road in Jupiter has a long history.  It is rumored to have been a gangster hideout in the 1920’s and was owned by legendary actor Burt Reynolds in the 1980’s.  Notorious gangster Al Capone built the original home on the property in 1923.  Reynolds owned the ranch for years and shot scenes from the immensely successful “Smokey and the Bandit” movie, as well as scenes from the television series “B.L. Stryker” there.

Al Capone is said to have built the original home on the property in 1923. Capone was Brooklyn born and he ruled the streets of Chicago.  Capone mostly hung out in Miami, but he did not particularly like it there.  A news report places Capone in Palm Beach County in 1930.  At the time, West…

Artificial reefs provide habitat for many species and supplement the function of our natural reefs that are increasingly pressured as the boating population in Northern Palm Beach County continues to expand. Our growing population causes our natural reefs to decline, millions and millions of spawned reef fish eggs float away in the current, only to perish for lack of habitat to grow and mature in.

Artificial reefs are man made underwater structures that promote marine life.  They are an excellent way to enhance marine life in open barren areas.  Palm Beach County became involved in the artificial reef program in the 1960"s.  The first artifical reef  created was the east of Palm Beach consisting of a 165' Navy Patrol Craft, a 185' private yacht,…

One way for Florida residents to support sea turtle conservation is to purchase a sea turtle specialty license plate. Proceeds from the specialty license plates help fund the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Marine Turtle Protection Program.
