Some of the biggest names in local golf will be among the sponsors of this year’s Palm Beach County Golf Association season of amateur events. 2013 will mark the 38th season of PBCGA Events that take place at some of the best golf courses and clubs in the county.

The season will kick off this weekend with the Spring Four-Ball event at the Fountains Country Club’s North Course in Lake Worth. Local golfers Tiger Woods, Keegan Bradley, and Rickie Fowler will all be taking advantage of their off week by competing in Medalist Golf Club’s Member-Guest tournament in Hobe Sound.

Housing Market in Florida Makes A Come Back!

News of the real estate market in south Florida making a come back has been making headlines. According to the recent home price index released by Standard & Poor (S&P) in January of 2012, the prices of homes in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties have risen considerably. Since October of 2011, the home prices have risen 0.8 percent and a whopping 9.9 percent from the year before. October was the 11th consecutive month that home prices have grown in these three counties on an annual basis, according to the Sun Sentinel.

The chairman of the S&P price index, David M. Blitzer, stated, “Prices are rising, as are both new and existing home sales.” He also made the comment that the “housing market is clearly recovering.” His enthusiasm and the positive…

The Fiscal Cliff

The House approved a Senate bill and our country has avoided the dreaded “fiscal cliff”.  As anticipated the vote, held Tuesday evening, fell along partisan lines, but how does this affect you or your family in 2013?  

The following items are key concerns to most Americans:

-  Income taxes for Americans earning less than $400,000 (joint filers earning less than $450,000) will NOT go up. “Bush-era” tax cuts are staying. 

-  Payroll Tax for Social Security is INCREASING back 6.2% from 4.2%. For every $30,000 earned anticipate taking home $50 less per month (approximately $600 per year).

-  Unemployment has been EXTENDED for a year.

Christmas for the Animals

PALM BEACH BOAT PARADE

The 2012 Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade kicks off the holiday season this Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 6:00p.m with a traveling fireworks display up the Intracoastal Waterway.  The parade will travel 10 miles, from North Palm Beach, south of the North Palm Beach Marina, to the Jupiter Lighthouse, via the Intracoastal Waterway.  The parade begins at 6:00 pm and arrives in Jupiter approximately around 8:00 pm.   The parade benefits U.S. Marines “Toys for Tots” and last year collected more than 18,000 toys for needy children in Palm Beach County.
