Flights Debuting January 8th

Skip I-95 traffic and take a plane ride overlooking the gorgeous Florida coast instead. Fly the Whale, a small commercial airline featuring small plane charter flights, is opening up a new service taking customers from Fort Pierce to Tallahassee and soon to the Bahamas. 

Starting January 8th, Fly the Whale will debut flights from the Treasure Coast International Airport on St. Lucie Boulevard. Flights will depart on Mondays at 8 a.m. and return at 4 p.m. On Thursdays flights leave at 3 p.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The trip from Fort Pierce to Tallahassee will take 1 hour and 42 minutes... as opposed to about 5 and a half hours driving the interstate. Sometimes it's a little hard to get into the Christmas spirit in Florida when you're walking around in flip flops. Well, get ready for Christmas nostalgia because Delray Beach has a Christmas Miracle! 

"Miracle" pop-up bar is going to put you in the holiday spirit real quick. The pop-up Christmas bar has over 50 locations across the country but only one in Florida and it's right here in Palm Beach County. Miracle has taken over the Death or Glory drinking den in Delray for the winter holiday.

The Elliott Museum New Exhibit

The Elliott Museum in Stuart will be presenting a new exhibit called "Art of the Bahamas." The showcase is a collaboration between the Elliott Museum and the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas (NAGB). 

More than 40 paintings will be on display from the NAGB and local artists. The exhibit celebrates the creative spirit of the Bahamas and the diverse visions the beautiful islands have inspired.

The Art of the Bahamas goes on display December 15 and will be in the museum through February. Viewing times are from 5:30- 7:30 p.m.

Home Sales Are Rising in Palm Beach County

In October 2017, Americans purchased homes at the fastest pace in a decade- a 6.2% monthly increase nationally, and a 16% monthly increase in Palm Beach County, according to the Florida Realtors Association.

Why are people buying?

One contributing factor could be the result of the national interest rate on 30-year fixed mortgages continuing to drop. Last week mortgage rates dropped from 3.95% to 3.92% in comparison to 4.03% in 2016 (National Association of Realtors). Historically, lower mortgage rates have helped drive home sales and those looking to refinance the market.

South Florida Housing Market Data is Insightful for 2017

A summary of July 2017 existing home sales in South Florida  indicates sales data showing that housing market activity this July fell from last month, but improved from last year. 

Sales of homes on the market slipped to their lowest level of the year in July 2017. As the conversant undercurrents of "lean supply and enthusiastic demand lingers. It continues to strain the housing market, although it reached 5.44 million,” according to Association of Realtors  The Association of Realtors also noted “that it was down 1.3% from a downwardly-revised June pace. While July’s pace was 2.1% higher than a year ago, it was the lowest since last August”.

Jupiter Inlet was a Runway for Aviation

Did you know that a group of British aviators landed their planes in Jupiter? They were allies with the United States and practiced water landings and takeoffs on Jupiter’s waterways the winter of 1916-1917.  The 3 small, single engine bi-winged seaplanes were obvious Allied Planes of World War I. They were painted with traditional motifs used at the time: wide vertical red, white and blue stripes on the rudder and circular targets on the wings.
