Paul Goydos survived more than just the rest of the field Sunday in the final round of the Allianz Championship at Broken Sound in Boca Raton, he survived the course as well.

“The way I was playing, I could easily have been three back,” he said. “The golf course played much harder today. Maybe I wasn’t handling the situation very well, but the greens were quicker, the hole locations were tougher. I just had to hang in there and make pars, see what happens.”

Local non-profit organization “Friends of Jupiter Beach” has been organizing beach cleanups on the first Saturday of every month for over 10 years.  Initially, the clean ups began with a handful of volunteers interested in keeping the beach clean of debris and waste.  Today, the “project has evolved into a significant force for environmental care of our environment.” 

Every month an average over 200 volunteers help, remove almost 500 pounds of debris within a 2 and ½-mile stretch of Jupiter beach and the Jupiter Inlet.  This environmental preservation project is partnered up with Rapid Removal Services to haul away recyclables.

Palm Beach Gardens resident Rory Mcllroy won the European Tour's Dubai Desert Classic, while stateside fellow Gardens resident Brooks Koepka won the PGA Tour's Waste Management Phoenix Open, headlining a weekend of winning for local golfers.

Mcllroy continued to show his dominance and why he is the top ranked golfer in the world by winning his second Dubai Desert Classic in the last six years. This time around he won by three shots after shooting rounds of 66, 64, 66, and 70. His four day total of 22-under par tied the scoring record for the event.
