While some people are wasting time and energy panicking, others are using this time of self-isolation to form positive habits. One such habit is meditation. There's plenty of empirical scientific support for meditation. But now, especially, is a good time to get started.

Here are three reasons to do so:

Meditation may boost the immune system.

Coronavirus is a highly infectious disease and no one is saying that meditation will protect you against it. However, several studies have shown that meditation may be able to strengthen the immune system by positively impacting genes involved with the infectious cycle.

Using regular self-hypnosis as a relaxation technique has had positive effects on Lymphocytes—a type of white blood cell which helps…

Yesterday, Palm Beach County issued Emergency Order 20-004, which states all residents, employees, and visitors in public settings where social distancing measures are difficult to maintain should wear face coverings to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

The emergency order will go into effect on April 13 at 12:01 a.m.

This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidelines urging people to wear masks in social settings where "social distancing measures are difficult to maintain."

Facial masks can take any form as long as the mouth and nose are covered. Homemade masks have been made using scarfs, bandanas, handkerchiefs and other cloth coverings.

If you have a child or children who have been pulled out of school due to the coronavirus pandemic, you should not plan on schools re-opening anytime soon. While there is something to be said for optimism, it is also important (more important) to face the realities of the current situation and make plans to continue teaching and helping your child learn at home.

As of yesterday, Gov. Ron DeSantis was on the fence about shutting school campuses statewide for the rest of the academic year, but he said some students may return to school sooner than others.

“We’re going to make the best decision that we can, but it may be that not every county is going to be treated the same in this,” the governor told reporters. “There is nothing wrong with that.…

Palm Beach County leaders delivered some of their most optimistic news yet this passed Tuesday about the spread of the deadly coronavirus, suggesting that social distancing within the community seems to be working.

"In the next, maybe 30 days or so, we could actually see some hope at the end of the tunnel," said Dr. Alina Alonso, the health director for the county. "At least a glimmer of a light, perhaps."

Speaking at a new coronavirus testing site at the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach, Alonso said the latest data shows that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Palm Beach County has started to slowly come down.

"That is very encouraging," said Dr. Alonso. "If we can keep that up, we can keep this curve flat so that we do not…
