Things are looking up across the state of Florida as gym, restaurants, and retail stores are now open (with restrictions) and many are returning to work. If you are young and healthy, the risks you face with the coronavirus are minor compared to other groups. Those who fall into the “high risk” category should continue to strictly follow CDC guidelines. Here are some of the things high-risk groups need to know about the coronavirus.

Based on what we know now, those at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are:

  • People 65 years and older
  • People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility

People of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:

  • People with chronic lung…

The Mall at Wellington Green reopens today, with new measures in place to protect shoppers and employees from the coronavirus.

The mall will have reduced hours and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Wellington Green announced on its website.

Face coverings are not required to enter the mall, but they are recommended, the mall’s website said. Some stores do require face coverings.

All parking lots are open, and Wellington Green suggests parking six feet from other vehicles for continued social distancing. The mall recommends determining which store or restaurant you want to visit, and then checking the mall’s map to see which entrance and parking would be the closest.

Florida fishing charters reopened starting on April 29th with CDC social distancing guidelines in effect.

Recreational fishing in Florida generates an annual $11.5 billion, making it one of the biggest drivers of the local economy, and charter fisherman are thrilled to get back to work after coronavirus restrictions.

Social distancing, sanitation of heads after each use, and other requirements are in effect, including the establishment of online or telephone payment systems to reduce possible points of contact between customers and vendors.

Boat capacity restrictions are as follows, based on the size of the boat.:

  • 25-foot or less: maximum 6 persons (4 adult passengers plus 2 children 17 & under)
  • 26- to 36-foot: maximum 8 persons (6…

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis made his decision to begin reopening the state based on the steadily decreasing number of coronavirus cases throughout the state as well as our local medical systems gearing up to prepare themselves for any potential influx in cases.

The governor has cited hospital bed availability as a key indicator that the state is ready to open up again. About 33% of the state’s 59,000 hospital beds are available.

Even more — 37% — of Palm Beach County’s roughly 4,000 beds are free. About 31% of adult intensive care beds in the county and statewide are not filled.
