This October, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting two events that you should plan on attending.

The historic red lighthouse has been Jupiter’s icon since it was constructed in 1860. The lighthouse grounds are surround by more than 120 acres of native habitat and the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area is a part of the United State National Conservations Lands program. Today, the Loxahatchee River Historical Society manages and preserves the lighthouse and its cultural heritage.

This expansive beachside park includes Lazy Loggerhead Café, Seabreeze Amphitheatre, picnic areas, an exercise course, bocce courts, softball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Saltwater fishing is permitted at this beach, and most surf-fisherman use 12-15 foot rods paired with large saltwater spinning reels and 20-25 pound test line. Surf fishing can be great here for jacks, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and snook.

Head to the South Florida Fair Grounds for their annual Fright Nights this October. The Fright Nights are on select nights from October 11th through November 2nd.

For a few short weeks, the South Florida Fair Grounds turn into the premier haunted house attraction in all of South Florida. This year the event will feature multiple haunted houses, scare zones, midway rides, virtual reality experiences, food vendors, videos games, street performers and much more.

October is a month full of fun, family fall-themed activities. Bring the kids and enjoy the Hobe Sound Hometown Festival, hosted by the GFWC Hobe Sound Woman’s Club.

The GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) was founded in 1890. It is an international women’s organization devoted to community improvement by boosting the lives of others through volunteer service. What better way to kick off the Halloween season, than with a Family movie night and Trick or Treating in the Park!

On Friday, October 11th from 6pm to 9pm, you can do just that. The City of Stuart Community Services Department presents Family Movie Night in the Park. Bring your chairs and blankets and watch Hotel Transylvania with free popcorn for all! Kids will enjoy trick or treating with non-profit vendors and a costume contest for kids 12 and under. There will also be arts and crafts. The costume contest will begin promptly at 6:45pm with the movie to follow at sunset.
